The only thing new I can add is to consider getting a petcock valve to replace the drain plug. I don't remember what brand I got, but it has never leaked, and draining the old oil is as easy as flipping a switch. No more plug to struggle with.

 

OP says he's using a fumoto ... that's an oil drain valve ...
