Crash

Well not much of one but it will cost.Good thing I manage a bodyshop Betty hit a Raccoon and it went through the grille and into the condenser. The radiator might be bent also. The plastic shrould around the radiator busted also. Now this is just from hitting a coon I can only image what would happen if it was a deer. Betty was so sad because we love our little car. I will fix it back next week and she will be good to go.

Sorry to hear about this. Was it at night? Pretty hard to see hazards and good to hear that Betty is OK and kept control of the MINI.

A deer? Yup, big trouble. I think another MINI owner posted about hitting a moose. This can be big damage to the front of the car.

If these are well traveled roads by you then just be more aware and alert of wildlife and take it a little slower if needed. I'd bet prevention is a better way than having this happen again.

Another thing that sometimes happens is in the effort to avoid and swerve you end up hitting another car or tree or cause another person to get into an accident. You just can't win unless you are practicing defensive driving at all times.

Shortly before MINIsOnTop 2003, Jason hit a moose in his VR MINI, so he was driving a "marshmallow" (VW new Beetle) for MOT'03. These days, he is still driving the same VR MINI
On the way home from MOT'03, Richard hit a porcupine and it also did a surprising amount of damage!

I was in a 1956 Buick Special that hit and ran over a porcupine one night. That car was very big and heavy and the left side that pig heavy Buick lifted off the road. There was one seriously dead porcupine on the edge of the road.

The next day we were checking for damage and found that my buddy was driving "quill-belted" radial tires we spent about 20 minutes pulling quills out of his tires.

After a few experiences like that, and knowing my night vision is not as good as it used to be, I am limiting my night driving.

Have fun, but be safe night and day

Oh, William! Sorry about Betty's raccoon incident, but so glad that she is okay. I almost nailed a squirrel today, but at the last moment, it scooted under Wanda....safely!

I, too, am not thrilled about night-driving. But with my rally lights and xenons, I can definitely see pretty well at night.

Hope the MINI is back to new ASAP!
