Help troubleshoot--broken passenger seat...
I have an '03 MCS w/ space cloth seats. Tonight the passenger seat got stuck in position, as far back as possible. I pull the seat release handle up but cannot slide it forward--not even an inch.
I have looked at the tracks to see if a pen, coin or other object might be blocking the path and cannot see anything.
Any ideas? I'd really like to save the 200 mile round trip voyage to the dealer.
Thanks!

Usually there is some kind of connection between the handle and the cam that engages the teeth on the track. If it is a bent wire, it may have come loose, especially if stuff gets under the seat. Look for a loose rod, shaft or cable under there. Look at the drivers seat which is probably a mirror image of the passenger seat to see the connection intact.
Bad news...it is not a simple repair; the seat track needs to be replaced. Part of it was bent--perhaps by sliding it without having the handle pulled all the way in the up position. I had hoped that a coin or something was merely stuck in the track.
Good news...Mini of the Mainline (Philly) is ordering the part and I'll have the work done in two weeks. They promised me a loaner for the day (I hope it's a MINI). The good news, it is warranty work. The 200 mile round trip is a pain (as is spending a vacation day) but they will take care of things.
