Second rallycross with the spare parts MINI vid and pics

Did my second rallycross over the weekend. Car did great, and nothing broke I think I'll add this one to the book of successful rescues, this car was about ready for the crusher when I bought it.

Vid audio is better, but I need to do some serious mic testing.

Love it!!!

Started rallycrossing mine last year - think I got to 4 events. Had one DNF when I hit a big hole under a puddle/lake and folded my skidplate back on itself. I've since made up a frame to prevent that from happening again!

What region are you running with?

It's nice to see you gave the MINI a new fun and exciting life. Rallycross is super fun. Good job out there.

I am a Western Michigan member, but I've been running with Detroit region.

Interestingly I don't have a skid plate of any kind yet, and an ice berm put a nice little bend in the bottom of my new radiator. Got lucky and didn't spring a leak or pinch any coolant channels. So I'm currently on the hunt for a used plate... Next event will be auto-x so I have some time, I don't think there is another rallycross close by enough until June.

Sounds like you got lucky!

I'm thinking about cutting my old one up for protection under other areas now...that's about all it's good for. I swear I felt the front wheels come off the ground when it happened.

I'm using a Rennline one now (they featured my car on their blog a few weeks ago...was pretty nice of them - http://rennblog.com). Similar to the other one but I can change the oil without dropping it (except I drop it all the time to look around and see what I'm breaking between events anyway).

(that Marauder sounds pretty crazy!!! )

Pat

Edit: here's a pic of the finish from that event (before my DNF). No telling what was under all that water!

That is a magnificent picture :-D

Thanks for that link to their blog too, I need to get a driver's side track mat. I pulled the entire interior, but left the front carpet when I saw the floor pan. My plan was to cut something out myself to level it, but now that there is something out there I'll be pulling what remains before my next event

Ya, I guess I've really only had the interior out of old Minis - was completely unprepared for bolts sticking up through the floor, styrofoam, etc. I did the same, too - cut out a piece of aluminum myself - but the Rennline one looked so nice I canned my idea.
