Brake Help please Urgent

Hi all
have an 02 MCS Euro Spec cars been fantastic but finally hit a few problems
Just had the clutch replaced.
I know the garage had a lot of problems they lowered the engine by loosing the mounts to help with the gearbox removal and i am wondering if it could have damaged the wiring
Started with an engine warning light and limp mode this went off and the car drove fine for 100 miles
then on next start All 3 trifecta lights and limp mode
the codes i can get are
Codes P1570 5E16 5E19 5E1A
all fuses are ok and wiring plugs are dry and pushed fully on
thanks

I don't believe that it is customary to remove the engine in order to replace the clutch; are you sure your shop knows what they are doing?

When we do a clutch here we drop the subframe, place a jack under the engine, unbolt the transmission mounts, and tilt the powertrain towards the trans side to ease the job. It isn't uncommon to slightly lower the engine to get the trans in and out.

As for the codes, the only one that correlates to gen one diagnostics is the P1570 (ECM sensor supply A low output). The ECM sends out a 5V sensor reference and that is what is reading low, you need to take the car back to them to correct the problem, or find someone who knows how to fix it.

Check the wiring harness that runs near the mating surfaces of the trans and engine, we have seen multiple cars that have had clutches done and the installer pinched those wires between the engine & trans.

Sounds like when they pulled the engine down and took out the transmission they pulled on the wire harness , unplugged it, snagged and cut a wire, or forgot to plug something back in ? You will have to track and go through the harness and all the plugs around it. Follow the harness and use a little mirror to reach the hard to see areas and under the harness.

I'd also check your wheel speed sensors (with a focus on the front left (US drivers side)). First step make sure it is connected and looks OK. Then you need to see if it's reading properly - Do you have access to INPA software to read out the sensor values?

It's a diode type of sensor, so hard to check with a simple meter, but if you understand how a diode works it can be done.

Bad wheel speed sensors will generate codes, but it often causes other DSC related codes and not a single code saying "bad wheel speed sensor" or "open wheel spend sensor".

You need a code reader that reads MINI/BMW specific codes and not a generic OBDII reader - the generic ones can't read the ABS/DSC codes.

Yes,

This code reader will read ABS sensors and more. It will tell you which side also. Worked on Mine.

If you don't have a DSC or ABS light on the chances of you needing a wheel speed sensor are nil.

There is an interruption of the 5V ref either to or from the DME, and you will need to find out why.

The OP said he had "trifecta" lights. I interpreted that to mean DSC + ABS warning lights. If that is not the case, ignore my comment about the wheel speed sensor.

Been speaking to other uk owners, they seem to think the Brake ECU goes bad.
Is it a problem State side also??
In the UK a couple of companies repair your ECU for 400 dollars
When i spoke to them they gave me the feeling it was wiring but i dont know where to start without a pin out chart

Look on ebay for Bosch ABS Module repair. You will find a snoot full. Around $100 here. But, it doesn't seem to be very common on MINI compared to similar vintage BMW. The catch is that a new or used one will have to be coded to your car, and not just plug and play. Makes repairing more economical compared to finding someone that can do the coding for you (if you can't do DIY).

Since you had other work done just before it went weird, why do you think it is the module and not a loose connector or bent pin, etc.?

This. The wires are really hard to move out of the way when removing and installing the transmission.

You didn't mention it, but if the car had no issues before they changed the clutch, and it only started having problems after the shop worked on it, the garage should figure out what they did wrong.
