Hey all, I'm going to probably dig into this issue this weekend but wanted to share my symptoms for any suggestions on what to look for. I did a search and didn't find any results with what I'm experiencing. The car currently has 103k on it.
I have an 06 that's making a clicking when I start it up, but once I depress the clutch it goes away. Also, shifting is very stiff going into all gears but really stiff going into first and third. I'm hoping its just cabling but prepared for the worst. Any suggestions what it might be? Or what I should look for? I've already switched to MTL but still hasn't helped much. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The stiffness between gears can be a sticky cable, sticky shift bushings on the trans, failed throw out bearing, failing clutch, etc.
The chatter you hear isn't all too uncommon for the colder weather, my car does it with a new clutch, and many other cars do it as well. The trans will be a bit tough to shift when it is cold but will progressively get better as it warms up.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm hoping its a cable. Shortly after my post I found this article that seems help me also.
Unfortunately, it's probably not your cable. I think you have a clutch job in the not too distant future. The clattering sound in neutral with clutch out could be a sign that your flywheel, which is a 'dual mass' flywheel is jammed. If you hear a chirp when you start from a dead stop, that's the culprit. There are solutions to that which aren't as expensive as buying a new flywheel and clutch kit.

Thanks Helix for the response and opinion. I'm not hearing a chirp when I take off from a dead stop but I have to be honest I haven't been listening for it either. If it is the clutch I've heard the Valeo mass flywheel is the way to go.
When it comes time to replace the clutch be sure to replace a few easily accessible components while you're in there. Our clutch super kits HERE include everything and all you should need to replace when doing the job. You can use that as a reference if you decide to do the conversion kit as the kit itself only includes a Solid Flywheel, 1 Disc, 1 Pressure Plate, 1 Release Bearing, 6 Pressure Plate Bolts, and 8 Flywheel Bolts. If you are spending the time and effort to do this job, you might as well make sure that you are replacing and fixing every piece that might need attention, while you have access to it
