Anyone have a fire extinguisher in their car?
Thinking about mounting a small fire extinguisher in my mini somewhere. I've seen a few engine fires in my lifetime, and if you don't have an extinguisher its about impossible to put out a fuel/oil fire.
What's a good small extinguisher to get that comes with nice tough mounting hardware...not like the cheap ones that have the plastic straps. The last thing you would want if you ever got in a crash would be a fire extinguisher flying around the cabin.
Any info would be great!!

Yes, I run the H3R HalGuard Halotron 1 Fire Extinguisher. It's not confirmed yet, but we might be having a sale on it for our Christmas sale. We've had a lot of people buy this one and been very satisfied with it.

From the online photos, it looks like the Brey Krause under seat mount has four threaded holes to attach the fire extinguisher bracket. It looks like the fours holes are designed to work with the BK quick release bracket. Do the four holes in the Brey Krause mount match up well with four of the six holes on the HalGuard Fire Extinguisher bracket?
From the Rennline website it looks like the Rennline under seat mount has six holes. Do the six holes on the Rennline mount match up well with the HalGuard Fire Extinguisher bracket?

The H3R comes with a mounting bracket with steel straps and looking at the Brey-Krause mount it looks like it should mount up correctly with the mounting points on the H3R bracket. From the Rennline Fire Extinguisher Mount pictures it looks like the extinguisher in them is the H3R so I'd believe it fits as well.

Pelican, Thanks for the bracket mounting info.
The 2.5 lb extinguishers look like they fit OK in the Mini Cooper. I am sure there is still some ankle bushing going on with the under seat mount.
If planning to use the extinguisher to meet an automotive racing event requirement, note that some events require a 5 lb extinguisher that are a little more difficult to mount in the Mini. For example the Northwest Hill Climb events require 5 lb. I think they want you to be able to put out your car fire and also the forest fire you started.

A 2.5# clean agent FE won't really do **** to put a fire out.
I'd recommend at least a 5# clean agent from Amerex, Badger or Ansul. Don't waste your time with obscure brands. These things are still subject to six and 12 year inspections per NFPA 10.
Make sure you inspact any new FE you buy for the current year. There's a lot of people selling old FE that have been laying around in the box. There's no point in buying a NOS FE only to find out in needs a six year maint or 12 year hydro test a few years too soon.
