Airbag Module Dead

Took the MCS in for the airbag sensor recall and the red light is still on. Dealership said the airbag module was dead, $700 😡

Good news is they performed a compilmentary check up and only issues were:

Power Steering hoses leaking $500

Wiper blades streaking $75, LOL!!

Front emblem faded $110

Running light out-bulb $20

Good news is they washed the Mini😀

Wow your prices are crazy. I did my ps hose for $30. My airbag module did go out. I bought a used one from here for $40 and it took 30 min to put in. I replaced my emblems for $15. It is just a sticker. Maybe it is time you learned to turn a wrench. Pretty much everything on this car is cheaper to do yourself than pay someone to do it for you. Sometimes I say check I'm taking a day off of work to do this as it will save me $500.

Don't worry, I do most of the work on the Mini myself or with the help of Zach.

Does the replacement module need to be activated with the airbag tool?

Try to buy a used module from a non wrecked car. It must have the same part number. As there were changes in 2004 2005 year model. You do not need the airbag tool. Just plug and play. The module is under the carpet under the e_brake handle. Take out a seat. Peak back the carpet, remove the center console plastic. And 4 screws some plugs and you are done. Don't forget to remove battery while doing this. You don't want to set off a airbag code while the seat is out in your new airbag module. People part out cars here all the time. Many have not blown airbags.

I found that too. I paid $100 to have mine reset. Only to have it fail 6 months later. This was after an accident and airbag deployment. I purchased the airbag scanner tool and read the code. My code basically said it was an internal fault. So I had to replace it. So I was already spent $120 total. I took the gamble by buying a used controller. I won. It worked.
