Gauge pod? Multi gauge?

So after a recent alternator failure I'd really like a voltmeter in my car
I'm looking to create a clean factory(ish) look so I'm eyeing a steering wheel gauge pod like pictured
The volt meter is the easy part but what should the other gauge be? I'd really prefer not to plumb in new sensors (temp, oil pressure) so I'm thinking something that can use the obdii/CAN data. Can anyone recommend a good mini friendly multi gauge? I have a Bluetooth obdii reader and like it but don't want to have mount something that looks like a cell phone or gps to my dash.

Why not just get one gauge - they sell single pods.

Off-hand what do you expect from this? It's going to read 14V or 12V all the time. Gonna be kind of a boring gauge. Alternators have usable lives - but it's going to be a long time of you just replaced it.

I use the scan gauge ii - sits on the dash and I can choose 4 points of info including voltage - ultra gauge does the same

Yes it will be really boring until it's not. Like water temp or oil pressure.
Sure with a new battery and alternator I should be good for a while but I would have loved to have some warning before something fails.
The alt light didn't come on till I had no alternator. I learned my battery was going when my clock was cleared by starting the car.

I like the scan gauge ii in concept but just sticking it to the dash looks a little jury rigged to me maybe if I could come up with something like this but not sure where that would be in a mini

Use a double pod then I have the one you show pictured.
If your looking for multi use gauges ( that work) I'm running the Innovate MXTD and MXTL digital gauges. They are accurate ,contain two functions per gauge, you can sync them to ECU and have warning features built in

I guess I mean the failure rate on battery and the alternator are really low. Most MINIs were on original battery for 5+ years. While gauges are fun - we aren't heading to the moon.... Water temp and oil pressure would be much more valuable on a MINI.

Good luck.

I have the ultragage, tucked right next to the A pillar, its not right in my vision, nor is it too bright, black background with a blue/green hue for numbers, I use that for volts and a few other things. I think it looks better than the scan gauge. granted all the info on there except for coolant and intake temp is pretty boring, but its nice to know.

glowshift has a number of gauges you could put one of those in and get a gage pod and stick it where you want it
