7 days in the MCS. . .love/hate the speedo

Well ive been driving the MCS for 7 days and I will say when i first got it i absolutely despised the speedo.

But about the 4th day or so i started to develop an estranged crush and now i love it.

What does everyone else have to say about the speedo ?

It's a part of what makes Mini/MINI a Mini/MINI.

I just have my tach set for reading it digitally, but still think the big one is cool looking.

The big one in the center makes it easier for passenger, my wife. to backseat drive she doesn't have to lean over to see how fast I am going, need to have a way for outside temp to on there also. it also entertains people in cars on the right side to see how fast they are going especially at night.

I also use the digital, good thing too because I found myself never paying attention to the center speedo.

It's just right in the R53. I thought it got a little too Favor Flav in the later models. Now it looks a tad caricaturistic.

...thought the entertainment was supposed to be whatever's going on out the front glass. Too many inconsequential techno-distractions nowadays.

^^^ +1 ^^^

I love the center speedo -- it was one of the design characteristics that caught my eye the first time I looked in a MINI. I appreciate the fact that first gen cars only have speedo + fuel + water temp, and a few warning lights. I'm not a huge fan of the integrated radio and bigger display face in the R56s, let alone the goofy lights & other silly stuff in the F series.
