My stock exhaust is falling apart....

Resonating like crazy. Now the exhaust is making a clunking noise out back on acceleration after shifting.

It's a daily and I don't want to spend $800 on an aftermarket and deal with all the extra noise.

Are used stock exhausts hard to find?

Unless of course someone can recommend an aftermarket that is both cheap and quiet...

have you consulted a muffler shop?

MIDAS maybe ....

people here are going to recommend 'performance' systems. Does not sound like that's what you want . . .

{folks here usually want MORE noise!}

My car is a daily and it's making around 220 to the wheels. It's a torque steer monster as it is. I don't need anymore performance or noise

I just want the damn exhaust to stop resonating and thumping.

Isn't it all one piece basically from the cat all the way back? Meaning there are no clamps or spaces where you can just bolt a new muffler or axle back without welding?

No idea... I've never really paid attention. I have headers and a high flow cat on there now, but never bothered with the exhaust. I have all Jan's stuff (headers, cat, cam, injectors, custom tune, intake, blah blah blah) on my car. Both he and Ian didn't think there was anything to be gained from the exhaust.

However, when used stock exhausts are going for $250 and up, I might as well look at aftermarket if I had to swap it. I'm a little surprised the muffler internals are shot out. The car only has 80k on it.

am I the only one that sees a disconnect here?

Possibly. Just because I like the power doesn't mean I want to ride around making farting noises like a kid in a Honda civic with a Hawaiian punch can on the back. Not to mention the mini doesn't have a melodic exhaust note like a flat 6,so why amplify it? Especially considering the mini exhausts don't make any power.

Get an Ireland engineering and add your own tips. $300 and it won't rust, could even add a resonator to make it quieter if you want.

I saw that system in my research. Looks "good enough" . The tips don't bother me. This is a daily beater work horse :-)

Where can you get it for $300? Way has it for $450.
