So..... i took off today across a main intersection, went back into 2nd probably too hard and then........ no shifty shifty. It can only seem to go into 6th?
So i'm thinking this is the shifting linkage cable broke or popped off.

I'm going to try and take the air box off here in a few minutes in hopes that it popped off that end but incase it didnt... trying to decide if i feel like dropping the exhaust myself to fix it or taking it to a buddys shop. I guess the thing to do at this point is also get the short shift kit? Thanks a ton guys!

 

Sounds about right as they're prone to failure. This thread on NAM seems to be relevant to your issue. Here is a DIY for the replacement and parts here if needed.
