R50/53 Over Heating, AC Light Flashing
Over Heating, AC Light Flashing
Quick background, girlfriend calls me and says her AC stops working when the car isn't moving. Car overheats when at idle. It has been 90+ the past few days.
Reading around I see people have had problems with the PS fan and the stage 1 engine fan. Am I on the right track?
Also, I saw that it may just be the fuse for these.
F8 30A control power K69923 Relay, electric power steering pump cooling fan/Switch unit Heating & A/C blower
Is that the correct fuse to look at? And where in the engine compartment is this located? Is there a way to test if the fans are bad before just replacing the relay?
I apologize for all the questions, and appreciate the help. Have always had good support from you guys

Glad you figured out the relay problem. The P/S fan is definitely common for this issue. Here is some good info about it on NAM. Let us know how it all goes and if your issue is resolved when you fix the fan. We have a DIY for the fan replacement here if needed. Good luck!

I believe I checked the radiator fan fuse, its been a few weeks and it was not blown. Or maybe it was the PS fan fuse. Need to pull up the fuse diagram again and double check that.
Thanks for the info, use your all's DIY's a fair bit they are very helpful. Guess I should have clarified. The relay for the radiator fan was bad, so that has been replaced. We also found out the radiator fan is bad so that is what I will be replacing. Crossing my fingers the PS fan isn't also bad.

On my 05 S the fuse for the power steering pump is a 100amp 32 volt bolt-on fuse on the bottom of the fuse panel box in the engine (F4?). I remember quite well because after a jump, I somehow blew that and 5 amp fan fuse as well (protip: apparently you avoid grounding to the transmission mount). It's a PITA to get to so you'd remember if you checked it.

Changed the radiator fan, took me just about an hour. If I wouldn't have put the car on jack stands it would've taken less.
Had my fingers crossed this would work and it did. Thankfully because I am getting tired of fixing "common problems" with this car

Friday (the day before I did this), the GF texted me and said the drivers door window stopped rolling up and down. I pounded on the panel just above the speaker and it started working thankfully. I swear it's always something.

Isn't that how it always works? I always think to myself, "If I had a lift it would have cut an hour off from this simple DIY job." Glad it worked and fixed your issue.
