High Idle speed jack feature
Does anybody know how to troubleshoot a high idle? Apparently there is an "idle speed jack feature" that bumps up the idle from 750 rpm and my '06 Mini idles at 1200 rpm.
Bentley manual says it will do this if the ECM voltage drops below a certain threshold but doesn't say where to measure from, (section 13-61). On page 13-64 it mentions voltages between connector X6000 (brain box next to battery) and X6390 (connector on throttle body). But there are many voltages discussed and none about the ECM itself.
I also once read about a bad ground causing this but can't find that reference.
Has anybody done this fix?

Guessing you might have a vacume leak...the typical reason for a high idle....
I'd look for a vac keak.... Or a boost leak before assuming an ecu issue...a split intercooler boot, or bad vacume line is much more common on a 10 year old car .

Do you know how to read voltages from connectors? Since nobody has mentioned a manifold leak issue, I'm back to thinking the idle jacking is a brain box command but the wires are pretty sealed up on the connectors.
Has any one stabbed a probe into the wires? Is there a way to sl them back up on completions?

Do not go poking wires through the insulation...makes for nightmare issues later..water and corrosion gets in through the pinholes....causing corrosion...
Remember, a high idle us usually AN EFFECT of an issue, not a cause....
Betting it is how the computer is dealing with a problem....

Well I couldn't help myself and cut into the wires only to find the voltages were in tolerance. I filled the slits with RTV and then wrapped them in electrical tape and tie wrapped that. All that then went under the ECU connector cover.
It should be good but I still don't have an answer.
I then took the throttle body out and after cleaning it noticed there was a 1 mm gap. Since this is a different topic, I'll think I'll start a new thread.

Seven years later and I’m still dealing with a high idle which a also makes it run rough at a traffic light. That is, it is pulling hard against the stopped wheels.
So. To repeat, is there a way to lower my high idle? It is 1150rpm at idle. If I turn off the A/C completely, it drops to 900rpm. The car is an ‘05 R50 with a CVT and about 96,000 miles. I’ve cleaned the injectors and electronic throttle body.
