Question

Have my 2003 r53. And it seems almost every cruise I go not matter if it's 2miles to mc Donald's or 10miles to my house. The fan always turns on after turning the car completely off. I was wondering if it's happening because I need a oil change? Check my radiator ? I don't no just wondering if it's normal or what I should do

You may be growing a problem with the power steering pump. This issue is heavily covered in previous posts. For example: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...hut-off-2.html

Check your coolant?
Mini's often have leaky coolant tanks, and thermostat gaskets....net result...low coolant, so the car runs hot...so the fan turns on and runs even after shutdown...normally the cooling fan should not only run after shutdown if the car has been driven VERY HARD...
Both items are easy to fix...under $100 if you diy it....

In addition to what Brick and Zippy mentioned (both are common problems and possible causes), one more possibility is that your low speed fan is never turning on because the low speed fan resistor is burned out (this is yet another common problem). The engine is running hotter than it should, and after you stop the retained heat is enough to trigger the high speed fan.

I would start by checking your coolant level and look for leaks.

For me it was all three factors that ran like a chain reaction in the following order:

1. Fan resistor failure thus engine was working hotter than usual
2. Premature thermostat housing damage (maybe due to engine running hotter?) causing leaks
3. Water reservoir leaking due to boilovers

How I fixed it:

1. Replaced entire fan ($75 on Amazon)
2. Replaced thermostat and its housing ($45 on O'Riley)
3. Replaced water reservoir ($20 on yard)

Engine running cooler now (in the range of 88C to 110C). Still waiting to see how it behaves in the coming summer heat. (fingers crossed)

Cheers!
