Just verifying my motor mount is done...

All the residue under it is evidence that this thing has been done for a while, right? Just wanted to verify before buying a new one.

Yeah! Definately toast!

I just replaced mine with a Vibra-Technics. It is a solid piece - very well constructed and minimal NVH.

It was relatively easy to change but I'm a retired aircraft mechanic so everything seems easy compared to turbines and props.

You'll need an E12 socket (NAPA) to get the bottom bolt but it will likely strip anyway. Don't worry though, there's an easy way to get it still.

Here's a great video tutorial on changing it.

I agree. It's toast. If you want to go with another hydraulic mount, this is where I got mine....was about the best deal I could find at the time....

http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2580766/

Many of these mounts that you find under various brands are actually MINI/BMW parts with the logo marking ground off....so they are actually oem parts. Thats the case with the one linked above.

Also, don't forget to order a new bolt. I think some folks do reuse the old one, but it's really a stretch bolt intended for one-time use.

Don't be tempted by super cheap ones from Amazon. I actually replaced mine first with one of those and the car vibrated worse than it did with the bad mount. Sent it back and promptly ordered the one from ecs and it is still doing fine 8 months later.

Good luck.

Most likely...possible it was never cleaned after the last one...
About a $100 part...about an hour install if done at a shop....if you do the stock style, good for another 40,000 miles or so...
Replace it asap...running too long with a failed one can put extra stress on the clutch/tranny...a lot of movement happens with a failed mount.

^Yep^ They break so often you can't reliably diagnose the 'mount-in-a-can' by looking at its dirty diaper. Two comments:

-The Vibra Techniqes (sp?) is a very high-quality piece, but you have to accept more vibration in the cabin as the cost.

-We charge 1/2 hour for the installation.

That one is done.
Replaced my 2006 S one with an OES mount. That one ruptured within 1,000 miles.

If you clean off the fluid from the rails, don't use too strong of a cleaner. The paint under the hood, and in the jamb of the back hatch, isn't clear coated and comes off easily.

Pretty normal mount failure. That is why we offer two version. The OES MINI one has a 2 year warranty parts and labor.

And an Aftermarket one with 1yr warranty, just a little cheaper.
