Gap in lower motor mount?

So I have an issue in my car where if I floor it and don't ease into it (torque application) there is a jerk and with that jerk (that's completely normal) there is a kind of bang/pop it isn't like a bang sound though it is more of something solid just smacked another solid thing, so Looking under the car right now I see that my lower motor mount, the connection to the body has about a 1/8" gap between the rubber and the mount, should that be there or not? I think no but please help with suggestions.

Can't take a pic at the moment, but so on the connection (smaller side bolted to the frame) there is a gap on both sides, the mount is sideways inside the C joint. there is about a 1/8" gap on both sides. I cannot tighten it at all, but then again I cannot loosen it either xD tried some PB blaster and still couldn't (guess I am weak lol).

Does it looks like this or there's rubber missing somewhere on yours?

Those bolts are in there real good as I remember...and since it sounds like the factory installed motor mount....time doesn't help them become any easier to break loose.
From your description I'd say it's the motor mount. The torque transfer clunk is something I've heard with failed motor mounts.
However I can't tell you for sure without a picture. The gap as you describe sounds as if the rubber mount has broken and now there is a gap where the rubber bushing is pressed in and the bushing itself?

From the sounds of it, it may be the mount as suggested. One of the most common parts to deteriorate on the MINI are the engine mounts. The rubber that is contained within the mounts becomes old and brittle, and doesn't perform a good job of isolating the drivetrain from the rest of the chassis. We have a DIY for the replacement here, which provides some good images so maybe take a look and see what yours looks like in comparison. Mounts here if needed.

+ check for gap or separation of the rubber in the middle or cracking in the middle of the rubber part.
