2005LY - Congratulations
Early September is a great time to start motoring.
My MA talked of monthly allottments to the dealership. Does anyone know how that works. 2005LY what month were you allotted for? I'm just getting my hopes up here, as I was given an October allocation.

Monthly allotments are MINI USA's way of giving the more productive dealers more cars and distributing the production of cars in that manner, sorta like electoral votes in an election. When a car is sold prior to production it is bumped up in that dealers allotment to the next available location (ahead of the cars to be placed in the showroom) if that is feasible for the purchaser. Hope that makes sense, that is how it was explained to me.
I was just wondering if any of you week 33ers have had any change in your order status and also wondering when you guys ordered. I am trying to figure out why everybody that ordered theirs around the same time as mine (7/2) are being built early and mine gets pushed back a week. The only thing I can think of is it is the Universial Garage Door Opener that is causing the delay. I don't see any others with that option...
Thanks - Andy -

Interesting, I have noticed that a lot of the ones built early were Hyper Blue. I wonder if they are trying to get more of that color out since it is new? or maybe the red paint is on backorder..

The letter I received from the dealershhip giving me my production number said that the assigned production week is usually based on color.
Today's update from Mini estimates my completion date as Aug 9th. Time to buy cigars!

JMB is correct Del/AAA!!! That is a huge load of BS. If you read my post earlier on this page the allotment is explained to the T. It has nothing to do with the color I had changed my color after my production week was disclosed and my car has not been bumped, I was originally a BRG which would mean that my car would have not been a week 32 build according to what your MA is trying to push, considering there are numerous HB during week 32 and I am a week 32. Did you custom order your MINI or did they "sell" you a production slot they had already spec'd out, then maybe they do the cars they spec in colors according to their allotment. As for your week 33 build date you will more than likely have a change on monday as my week 32 is now in the paint shop. Call and talk to a live person @ 1888askmini the OL is way behind and is very poor attempt at being accurate. Your MA should have all the info if they take the time and log into 'dealer net' and actually check your status, but they may not want to be bothered. As far as your order date that really plays a small amount into your actual production date. You can actually wait for months if the allotment is already spoken for. The production numbers also have absolutely nothing to do with production date, if you notice they are very random. In the end it is based on your dealership and the allotment they have.
Hope that helps, I have been waiting since June so I know how much the wait kills, but it will get here and you will LOVE it! And the longer the wait the more of a chance you can get the new cupholder and have the possible optional rear fog light installed by the dealer prior to picking up so there will be no "blank switch" in the bank!!!!

just an update..... I'm in the paint shop!!! and should be done in a couple of days... I wonder if I'll make the next boat out... according to some of the other threads, there's a boat that is due out on the 5th..... would ASK MINI know which boat it's going on? I guess since a lot of the other months threads were able to track the boat they're in... anyways, can't wait to get my hands on "Casper"

2 spoke multifuncion steering wheel availability?
I have a MCS inproduction now. I want the two spoke multifuncion steering wheel, not the three spoke version.
Does anyone know if the 2 spoke can be still ordered/obtained?

Asaulo1: I am also getting a coat of paint! As for Mini knowing your boat.... Below is how you go about that (when you get you vin you plug it into the WW site). My car should be done before the 5th if not other boats leave Southhampton for NY on the 11th,13th,17th,20th, 24th then Sept. They should have the booking orders about 2 days before shipping out. So checking now will be of no help more than likely! Good luck and posssibly see your MINI on the boat over.MINIUSA Customer Service Tracking
MINIUSA customer service is available at 1-866-ASK MINI (1-866-275-6464). Be prepared to give them your 7 digit production number, or once it's been assigned, the last 7 characters of the VIN for your MINI. Since they have access to the same order tracking system as your dealer, they can provide the most up-to-date information on the status of your MINI before it departs the UK and after it arrives in the US. The only reasons to call your dealer after you've received a production number is to change or correct the specs on your MINI before it's scheduled for production, or to find out when you can pick it up after it arrives at your dealer.
The following numeric status codes are commonly used internally to track the progress of your MINI:
037 Order is at BMW NA (On Order)
087 Production Week Assigned
097 Order sent to factory
111 Order Accepted at factory
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started (Scheduled for Production)
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
182 Released to Carrie (Awaiting Transportation)
193 Arrived at Port of Exit [RECEIVED AT TERMINAL]
194 Selected for Shipment [LOADED ON VESSEL]
195 Shipped from Port of Exit (En Route)
196 Shipment Arrival [DISCHARGED]
You will also be able to track your Mini's voyage across the Atlantic at:
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Website Tracking
Once your MINI is built and released to distribution, it is transported from the factory by auto transport truck to the port at Southampton. From there it will make the voyage across the Atlantic aboard a Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel to one of three US ports of destination ... New York, Charleston (SC) or Port Hueneme (CA).
Once you have an estimated production date listed at MINI USA's Owners' Lounge, and even before production has started, you can find out on which vessel your MINI might be booked. Just click on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site to do a Search by Ports from the drop down menu to see which vessel leaves Southampton after your estimated production date and is bound for one of the three ports adjacent to a Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) closest to your dealer. That means the ports of either New York, Charleston SC, or the single west coast port of Port Hueneme CA.
Since estimated production dates have been know to ping-pong, it's probably less stressful to wait until your MINI has been assigned a VIN number and has started production. Then you can click Auto at WW Cargo Tracking and use your MINI's entire 17 digits (alphanumeric) VIN as the Cargo ID (it used to work with only the last 7 characters of the VIN). Tracking will display a Cargo Status History, showing your MINI as one or more of the following:
Other interesting information listed on the Cargo Status History is Vessel, Voyage ID and Booking Number. Clicking the Voyage ID will display the sailing schedule for your vessel. You can also go back to WW Cargo Tracking after your vessel has sailed and then track by Booking Number to find out how many other MINIs are onboard with yours. For those with too much time on their hands, visit this US Coast Guard site to find your MINI-carrying ship's "call sign". Then, with the call sign in hand, visit the Ocean Weather site to look for your ship's call sign and current location at sea by scanning the Marine Observations pages.
Have fun!

Finally got a change in status on my wk 33 build - it now says that my "Mini will be complete on 8/11". Where is that in the production schedule?
Is it:
112 Order scheduled for Production OR
150 Production Started (Scheduled for Production)
??
The next step is paint shop..... ??
The last time I spoke with a rep, they said that it had been assigned to a 7/19 batch....?? all of this is very different to what everyone else is reporting, so I thought I'd put it out there...
and no VIN.... Where will that show up? on askmini? OL? or from a rep??

Nevermind my last post!
Went into OL.... status changed to "scheduled for production" and I have a VIN!!
This is SO exciting!, second to the day my MA called to say that I was top of the waiting list and should come in to place the order!!
This is the day that I set as the milestone for reality to set in, so that I could start looking into insurance and financing...... so "let the games begin"!!!
The thing that sucks is that the first WW ship out from Southhampton to Pt. H is on 8/21! so 10 days at the dock... or I get put on one of those untrackable shippers like K-line!! WW does not recognize my VIN as scheduled yet.
