Congrats to all of those that now have a journey across the pond to track!!! One step closer to getting an '05 MINI. After reading BartMack's post I decided to give it a shot and check to see what the deal was with my baby..... I am happy to say I was happily surprised when the OL said it was awaiting transport, then I checked on the WW site and sure enough she was booked on the JINGU MARU sailing out of South Hampton on the 5th!!! Hopefully she will make it on the boat but she is booked on it, I have heard stories of people thinking there car was on a boat but never made it on so I am keeping my fingers crossed!! Hope everyone has a safe trip!
As far as my info on the paint shop..... I stopped by my dealer to see the new '05's that have arrived (and I will say that the new XENONS are awesome in the flesh and the filler for the rear fog is not that bad) and my MA checked my status for me in the dealer net.

OK, this is for everyone that doesn't have enough to worry about.

So now the production wait is over for some, and coming to an end for others, I suppose we can start fretting about the possible hurricanes during the crossing. Will Alex get out of the way in time? What is brewing the Caribbean? Will the sun keep shinging? What dangers lurk in the briny deep?

Good night.

Newbie

Hey folks, first post ever to this board. I have a week 34 build date (don't know the exact date) and my prod# is 74740XX. I am having a very hard time waiting. I think my MA has just as hard of a time, since with all this waiting, my option package has changed about twice a week. It's a roll of the dice to see what I actually end up with.

Listing

2005LY-- I don't know how to add my production #7466061 to your listing except to contact you. I can feel the excitement in the postings of asaul01, HB05MCS, BARTMACK and the others who are 'riding the waves' now. Congrats to all and wishes for a safe and SWIFT voyage

asaulo1,

I am also on the Patriot. That stupid ship doesn't get to Charleston until the 23rd! :( OL now says "Awaiting Transport" for me as well.. It'll be saying THAT for the next 9 days... *sigh*

Hmmm...

I'm very new to this, folks, and I really didn't want to, but...here I am. I ordered on approx. 7/12, but I'm actually an August order. Which means, according to my MA (who has since left the dealer) that I can expect delivery anywhere between mid-September and late October. Like many of you, I'm pretty disappointed with OL (listed as on order, but with no other details, including my options!), but now that I've read about 1-866-ASK-MINI, I'm looking forward to finding out more. (You can bet I'll be dialing THAT as soon as I get offline!)

I'm a LY/B MC, production number: 746XXXX. I went for the anthracite headliner, and I'm looking forward to how that'll turn out. Heck, I'm interested in how the whole car will turn out! The interior/exterior chrome is something I also went with, and I can't help wondering if that's gonna be too much chrome!

My current car lease ends in mid-September, so getting delivery around then would be great, but I'm not holding my breath on that. In fact, I've been trying real hard not too worry about any of this at all, but...geez, after coming this far, how am I not supposed to worry?

For all of those of you expecting delivery to your dealer soon, please let us know how THAT process works out. (I've heard a horror story or two.)

Good luck. May The Force, Karma, God, and whatever other supernatural forces there are, be working in your favor on this one...and, come to think of it, every other concern in your life. (Just trying to get some good Karma flowing MY way. )

All I can say is it had better not be a long wait at Classic to get the car out.

New Features

I know this off topic but it kind of relates...

My dealer had a Dark Silver Cooper S Cabrio in their hands for the last two days and tonight I was able to go check it out. I was impressed by all the new features. I really liked the way the new xenon's light up when turned on and the way new tailights looked good too. This car had the Garage Door Opener which I was excited to see because I have been looking but no one had posted info/pictures of it. I'm glad I got to this this so now I have something to look forward to instead of waiting to see these things for the first time on my car

The xenons make me think i should have ordered the sports package, and the garage door opener would be first on my list, if i had a garage.

so, i'm in production, scheduled to complete on the 10th, but i'm leaving town until... sept. 12th? close to that. will my mini be alone at the dealer? i don't feel comfortable about that. but considering i don't have a garage (see above), it's probably better off at the dealer.

Finishing production just means your car is done at the factory in Oxford. It still has to make its way to the US and then to your dealer. So it'll be probably 2-6 weeks after Sept 10th that your car is at the dealer, and hopefully you're back by then.

Scheduled for Production!

Howdy!

My 05 MCS is scheduled for production this month (even have a VIN Number). So, I guess I should add my name to this list.

My particulars:

Pepper White/Black Roof
Black Bonnet Strips
Sport Package
Premium Package
Interior Surface Anthracite
Panther Black Cloth
Harmon-Kardon Sound System
Chrome Exhaust Tips

Production Number: 7461XXX

This waiting is torture. I'm on all the sites everyday.

Thanks!

Rene

Rene- Your specs were my second choice. I would have swaped the Sound System for Leather though. What a nice car!

I found a book at Barnes and Nobel today that will be helping me get through some of the wait time still ahead. It's The New Mini by Patrick Paternie. It covers the following topics: A Mini History: Britain's Best - Developing and Designing the New Mini: The Mini becomes the MINI - MINI Mechanicals: Under the Skin - MINI Manufacturing: Making History in a Historic Plant - Marketing the MINI: Icons, Cults, and Guerrillas - Driving the MINI: New Versus Old - and What's Next? MINIS of the Future.

If you haven't seen the book I would recommend looking for it. Besides "feeding the monster" it really looks good out on the coffee table.

I also talked to my MA today, she says to expect The Car in early September. Great news since I had been on an October delivery list. Hope she is right.

Let the wait for the boat ride begin...
