R50/53 Picked up MINI #2 last week!
Picked up MINI #2 last week!
So while craigslist searching for MINI parts I happened across a 2003 MCS with "fuel pump issues" and ~50k on a replaced engine for $2500. It definitely caught my attention. It was almost identical to my 04 MCS that I love so much but a bit darker paint and heated seats. The post had only been up for 23min when I saw it so I was luckily the first one to call.
4 hours, $60 in diesel, and a uhaul trailer rental later I brought it back home only to add a little gas to the slap empty tank fire it up and hear it purr.
I've only driven it for about 40 miles over the past week but have not had any issues at all. That does not sound like a fuel pump issue to me. From the few I've had go bad they usually just die. I'm thinking there is a good chance Daddy's boy just ran it out of gas and told daddy it was broke so he would buy him the new mustang I saw in the driveway when I picked this one up. As my Dad would say, "It Must be nice."

The older gentleman I bought it from had spend over $10k in repairs including the replaced engine and SC in the last year hand had all the receipts to prove it. His 30+ year old son had been driving it but couldn't afford the repairs. Judging by the packing tape holding the glove box shut and incredibly thick layer of dog hair, sticky soda stains, cigarette burns in the carpet, and upholstery pins holding most of the headliner up this son did not know how to act his age. The outside looks better than my 04 but the inside was trashed.
So I've ordered a few parts for it and have taken out nearly the whole dash and center parts to deep clean!
Wish me luck!

I have multiple dogs. And there was a time I let my German Sheppard ride in my Mini on select trips which made one heck of a mess. But dang! I have never seen so much dog hair!!!
A little dismantling...

Thanks Way, I will check with you if the pump does turn out to be faulty. But I am thinking it may not.
Haha, I'm not so sure that Mustang fits my taste. When I get one it will be a '65 Fastback.
Side note: Does anyone know if you can buy the part in the door that holds it when you open it? The roller and detent arm thing? My 04's drivers door is touchy but this new 03's door wont stay open at all. The passenger sides on the other hand have very little problems.

I have New and some used door brakes too. These are pretty common to fail as they just wear out.
Great! I didn't know what those are called. I did a search on your site and didn't see any, what category are they under?
I just put the headliner back in yesterday. It was my third time doing one, second MINI headliner. I never can get them perfect, but I get a little better each time! Good luck with yours.
Got 3 boxes of parts in today. Yay!
