New MINI S/Dinan Owner

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area. I bought my mini a couple of months ago. I'm the second owner, when purchased the 06 only had 72k on it. What I'm looking for is advice and a mechanic in the MD area. I have question about lighting and a few other things, I'll try and find the right thread to post those questions there.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome,
...where in MD? And how far are you willing to drive for service?
Finding a shop and Tech you can count on is always tough, finding one that has a dedicated staff that is even harder.

Happy motoring!

James,

I'm in Montgomery county, I work in Columbia. Your right find a good shop is a pain. A friend of mine runs a speed shop but he's not willing to tackle this one. It's not that he can't do it, it's that he's never done one before.

Congrats. Woud love to hear what Dinan goodies you have on your car. We only went with the basics (exhaust, intake, stage 1 software) but much fun and can't get tired of the exhaust sound.

Dinan

Unfortunately I don't have all the paperwork for the upgrades, this is what I know, the optional 17 inch wheels are on the car, Dinan intake and exhaust system, those 2 things where not enough points to get the Dinan badge. That is one of the reasons I'm looking for a mechanic so I can find out what else was done.

Dinan

After looking at some of the other cold air intakes I may change over the Dinan one. The K&N intake looks like it has more free air flow than the Dinan, I haven't opened the air box but I'm guessing it just an oiled filter, since the box is still closed up.

The Dinan cold air intake is actually very nice. It looks clean and pulls cold air through a cowl induction inlet. The only thing I did to mine was replace the filter itself with a K&N part number RU-1460

Very cool. I also have the stage1 Dinan. Great exhaust sound and the intake allows the supercharger to really be heard. Have fun.

It seems counter intuitive though, having worked on American cars before, you'd want to relocate where that box is, somewhere near the front would get more air flow than where is sits now.
