I do not smoke and I do not allow my wife to smoke in my cars. I have told her that when I sell my cars, if I can't lick the ashtray I'll divorce her. (not really true - I would never lick an ashtray.)

BUT

I always get the "Smoker package" when I buy a car because it usually gives me an ashtray somewhere to use as a coin holder. Nowadays new cars don't come with lighters or ashtrays. What about the Mini?

 

The MINI comes with an ashtray (I use it as a coin bin) and power-outlet cigarette lighter as part of the standard equipment.

In all of my travels I have never run inot a car without a power outlet or cigarrette lighter. Except ONCE. I was stranded in New Orleans (weather) last year and had to get to Houston. Deplaned and rented some kind of Chevy van, Scoff law that I am, went to plug mah phone...no dice.....I'm tired I thought....find a hotel, sleep, you'll find it in the morning. Traded the sucker in at Port Arthur, TX the next morning....sure hope I never run into one of them again.....
BTW....is there a law that says you either misplace your car phone charger or the normal job but you can never have both at the same time??.....could be just me though........

 

Mine glows orange when there is a cigarette smouldering in there. I don't know what you are smoking that glows blue, but I might like to try it sometime!

But seriously, I would never use a car's ashtray for cigarette butts. The main reason that a smoker's car stinks is the smell of the ashes left in the ashtray all the time. To keep my MINI smelling smoke-free, I toss my butts in an empty soda can and toss it out on a very regular basis.

Thank you for not being like 99 and 44/100% of the smokers out there who just toss the butts out the window.

 

hmmm does he toss the filled can out the window? drop it out the window at stop lights like so many do when emptying their ashtrays? or just throw the can at oncoming SUVs? I believe the third example is totally acceptable.

Maybe as a rental, this is an oddity, but for anyone familiar with British cars of the 1950s and 1960s, a "cigar" lighter was an optional accessory. 'course with most of them being positive ground and all, I'd love to see someone try plugging their cell phone power jack into one nowadays. "Sir, what is that strange smell?" Fried Phone.

 

I just simply hate people that smoke in public areas.

 

I hate people who FART in public areas worse than I hate people that smoke in public areas.....OK....OPEN public areas.......indoor smoking is just...well......rude and inane and plain antisocial. Madam treausrer smokes.....never in mah car, never in the house and seldom dope........
