Coffee Can Exhausts and Minis

Seriously!

I did do some searching before starting this thread and couldn't find anything on topic.

I know that a lot of the coffee can exhaust tips we see on Civics and the like are only just new tips on a stock exhaust. But, I have seen a couple of WRXs and STIs with coffee cans that just sound great.

Is this purely an aesthetic thing with the Mini crowd, or is there a mechanical reason why they don't work with a Mini?

No, I don't want one, I was just curious

The original inspiration for the MINI Cooper's exhaust tip was a beer can.

Which would you rather have, a can of coffee or a can of beer ?

I saw one, shook my head, tapped my friend so he would see it and we both broke out with coffee canned laughter.

The S has a half-oval shaped opening for the exhaust so the coffee cans are a bit too round to look right, that's why most aftermarket companies don't come out with the fat ugly round thing. And besides, the MINI is european, you usually don't see the tuned european cars with the ugly crap they put on the japanese ricer wagons.

i was thinking about getting dual extra large (think costco sized) coffee can exhaust pipes. i'd probably have to cut into the boot area to fit them, but they'd double as a storage area anyway. i may add some neon to them as well.

I would say it's a taste thing, and the fact that you don't see them on many Mini's shows that we as a whole have good taste!! I personally think those big exhausts are ugly and make too much noise. I would guess they are mainly for looks and for the...younger set.
