R50/53 alarm, yes or no
Yes we got a standerd level 3 alarm system fitted in the factory, it's requered by the insurence company, it will not be insureble here in Holland. aspecially since it is becoming such a hot item to have one, Only 100 cooper S sold here this year!! And I'm one off the luke ones<>??#@@
Apparently a dealer-installed option. My dealer said they'll have it for $425...+ the $800 for the CD changer + the $115 for floormats...it's a good thing I didn't get leather because I don't think I could afford it!!!
i just got my mini on tuesday... it was the first mini in new jersey available with a factory installed alarm system... only problem?? dealership couldn't tell me how to use it... anyone have any info on this???

Alarm - YES! I haven't got my MINI yet, but when I do an alarm will be at the top of the order list. Got to keep those people with bad ideas off my Cooper!
For those in the UK, the alarm is Thatcham CAT 1 approved, so it will keep your insurance company as sweet as a TIC-TAC.

>>Just get a lo-jack... If your mini is stolen, then you're guarenteed that it will be found!
Ya, but does that not mean that someone knows where you are at all times? Granted, I'm not hanging out at the ***** house, or out buying crack, still... it's a bit too intrusive for me....

The car has a bit of its own theft deterrent system by way of the keys BMW utilizes. Anyway, I think most all aftermarket alarm systems are a ripoff. Every theft system can be gotten aroung by a pro. Plus, these days, no one responds when a alarm goes off, except to be pissed off by the noise. Also, as one other post says, most cars stolen in SoCal, ARIZ and other border states (where I live) are gone straight to Mexico and you can forget it. I'm just relying on my insurance and they're certainly charging for this protection. I'd truly hate to see my Mini go so I also pray alot and keep my fingers crossed (except when driving, it's hard to steer).
Does anyone know an online site to buy a LoJack or a place in Kansas City(It didn't have any listed at LoJack.Com)? Also, what is the going price for a budget LoJack(I don't have alot of money)?
well, actually i got the alarm last tuesday, the 16th of july... i took one car out for a test drive, an all black one, and i didn't really want that one... when we came back my indi blue one was sitting there waiting for me with the alarm & all
