You got to choose options already! I put down a deposit for an '05, but I'm facing a 10 mo. wait. I was told that exact option packages and prices weren't available yet. No biggie, I'll narrow everything down well before the build date.I'll be selling my '03 in about 9 mo.s (great resale), to roll-over into the'05.

Is this your first? I think you'll really like the sport package!. I looked at your list of options and it sounds like that's going to be a great looking MINI. There are three minor things you might want to keep in mind though...

With regard to the rain sensor/auto-dim mirror options: You may have read that the stock windshelds crack and pit easily (MINI is supposed to be making them a bit tougher now). Some folks have reported better luck with PPG windshields as replacements, but if you get the rain sensor option, I think you're locked in to MINI as your only option for replacement. I got the sensor options on my '03. I'm not sure if I'll get them again on the '05. I think I'd miss both features a little, but not much.

With regard to the seats: Again, you may have read that some folks have mentioned problems with the leather seats. The leatherette has gotten a lot of compliments. I have the space cloth, and like the fact that its comfy and warm in cool weather, and stays cool in hot weather. I'll probably get that again, but I'll have to see the '05 color and material options first.

With regard to the stripes: I got those from the dealer on my '03, but probably won't get them from the dealer on the '05. I like the way they look, but dealer installation is expensive. I think I'm going the get the car without stripes, and then put them on myself, if I miss them. Its much less expensive that way, and installation is not too difficult.

Good luck on the new car. I hope the time flies!

IMHO, I would trim down the spec if I were you. MINI is a great handling car. You can chase a Porsche in the cannyons and give them a really hard time. But it never will be a Lexus. I bought an MCS with sports package and nothing else. If I do it again I would try to buy a bare bone one and use the money to get a good set of coilovers etc. Trust me, you will be so happy with your MINI because the way it handles. Not because the wiper comes on when it rains. These things are extra weight on your car. Anyway, welcome to the club and enjoy your MINI!

Ninjamini, where did you get the list of options to order your 05? I am in the process of speccing mine out and I need a list of the options and colors for the 2005 model.

Dealer has a list. But you can get them from:

Just use the 04 configurer at miniusa.com and this website gives the changes.

I definiately agree. I'm going on MINI #2, and will be chopping the costs by about $2K: namely, the sport package. Not necessary, IMO.

Good luck and enjoy. Can't wait to order my 05...

I've had my MCS for 16 mo.s. I leave the DSC on and don't think about it most of the time. Although some foks don't like the DSC, I like the fact that its there. Sometimes I can lose a little focus in daily driving (who doesn't) and I like having it, if I miss-judge something or have to make a sudden, unplanned move because of someone else's poor judgment. However, I've had the car in an autocross setting once, and you *can* have a BALL with the DSC off!

I am a happy 11,208 miles 2004 MCS owner, and just got on the 10-12 month waiting list for a 2005 at MSRP (Long Beach Mini, CA). I will try selling private party, and should come very close to what a new 2005 costs with CA Mini MCS supply/demand situation. Love that Mini resale value! I will order basically the same no option MCS (xenons only) but will change a few things;

-Space cloth instead of leatherette (Sweat to death, does not breathe!)
-Steptronic tranny ( I will have to test drive first. Only because of traffic)
-fog lights (A bargain at $140)
-Xenons (I will ALWAYS order these, I love 'em)
-Liquid Yellow w/white roof (Have PW/B, but want higher visibility in traffic
and I really like the color combo after I have seen in person)

I love the PW/B combo. I also fully understand the less is more philosophy on the mini. But I have to say I like things. There was never an option I did not want.
