Came out to the care this morning and the door was stuck open.

Tried turning assorted things off & on, drove it for a while -- nothing.

Aside from beating it back to where it belongs, any easy way to get it back in without a trip to the dealer?

Thanks!

I would try washing the headlights again.

If you want to get it replaced, don't touch it. Take it to the dealer as is -- otherwise, you'll never be able to reproduce the problem in front of the dealer.

You might even want to take a picture of the front end showing that the one washer didn't retract, in case it happens to snap back before you're able to visit the dealer.

If it was my car, I would demand to have the washer assembly replaced. (Unless, of course, something just came unplugged but I'm sure you've already checked for that.)

I strongly advise that you do NOT go to your dealer and DEMAND anything! Contrary to what some seem to believe, MINI dealers and MINI service advisors are NOT members of a MINI Mafia and are not attempting to squeeze the last drop of blood from you the customer.

Customers who are “spring loaded in the Pissed Off position” do not usually receive very good quality customer service in comparison to polite and amiable customers.

Nick T. is correct. Most people I know like to volunteer help, not being forced to help. Going in and demanding things would be the last thing I would do. If you can establish a friendly relationship with your dealer, where they actually like you, then it is amazing what they will do to help you.

Good luck with the stuck headlight washer door.

Majority of poor customer service starts from these spring loaded in pissed off
mood customers.

Who said anything about being pissed off!

But I acknowledge that my "demand" comment was poorly worded, since it did not convey the intended message. The purpose of my comment was to offer my advise to Cobra that the washer assembly should be replaced unless there is something obviously to blame like a disconnected cable -- that he shouldn't settle for a tech just pushing it back in, if that's the dealer's proposed fix. Perhaps some of you would be satisfied with it being pushed back in, but with my experience with binding mechanical gadgets, I would want it replaced.

Obviously, it pays to be "polite and amiable" in any human interaction. Every successful person knows that.

Thanks Guys!

I got the car from Julie Saxa at Classic as part of a NAM group buy, so I like my dealer. But that's Ohio and I'm in So. Cal. I've been taking my wife's Bimmer to Crevier and they've been great with that. We'll see what they do with the washer door.
