Popping from exhaust (service bulletin)

Not sure if anyone has see the attached document but I thought it'd be entertaining to say the least particularly for anyone with an 05 or 06.

so, apparently, there were enough people who took their cars to dealers complaining of 'backfires', that they had to publish a notification that this is normal?

I mean, my wife and I are relatively new to the Mini universe, but I thought everyone who buys a Mini knows what they are getting with an S model and that wonderful exhaust is one of them.....our R56 JCW has a marvelous, deep burble and snapping....

maybe they should buy one of those Focus ST's that everyone says is a "Mini beater" instead

Pretty old news....
But back in 2005, when the pop/burbble was added, many folks were confused...
Remember, most of us test drove cars 6 months earlier, then took delivery of the next years model...
My test drive was on a 2004 s in the summer....
I ordered it the car....was delivered as a 2005 on Christmas eve 2004....
Most like loved the change....
A few thought the cars were broken....now it is well known....but was not always the case.
Aww....back in the day....when mini's were rare....
Had someone offer me $3000+ than I paid for my car about 3 months after I got it _(was pretty common)...wanted to give it to their daughter as a gift....lol.

Hahaha. Classic. I love my snap, crackle and pop. Added a Milltek catback year and it just makes it even better.

Every time I slow down for a stop light my MINI starts making barking sounds. Does this mean the wiggly pin rotation counter is out of sync with the framistan modulator?

i think your Gammeter needs to be calibrated, it sounds like its not counteracting sinusoidal flapping of the retro-encabulator.

Man that's classic. I get the explanation above though. Makes sense.

Is it bad that I say "pop pop pop pop" when the exhaust is doing it as well? It pisses my kid off something fierce.
