DDMWorks intake installed! First post!

Hello everyone. This is my first post on NAM.. I have had my 05' MCS for almost three years now but only in the last month have I started upgrading parts on it. What started out as black grills have triggered a series of other mods. It's a dangerous slippery slope that I had experience way back when I had the E36 BMW 328is and Eurospec M3. I will try to be more careful this time round.

Anyway I like to share some photos of my car and also the DDMWorks intake I installed a couple days ago. I should be receiving the JCW steering wheel today and will install that later today as well.

How do you like the DDM? Sound? Power? I have always wanted one but never gotten around to it.

Congrats! Have you compared the difference between having the cone sealed in and exposed? In terms of sound or performance?

The DDMWorks CAI is a great bolt-on for the R53. I've had mine for over a year & love it. Nice whine from the SC and when coupled with a reduced SC pulley, you definitely feel some extra giddyup.

I do enjoy the sound of this CAI setup. Eventhough I am still running on the stock SC pulley, the whinning can be heard clearly. I do notice the throttle respond is improved and that the engine can breath much better.

The DDMW box is designed to have an open back end where the UNI foam filter sticks out beyond the length of the box, and protrudes about an inch into the area where the stock plastic partition used to block. I see this design is trying to let the filter reach for as much cold air as possible, but I have concerns that the filter will get wet and gradually soaked from water seaping down from the windshield cowl when the car is driven in the rain; especially when the car is parked outside during a rainy day .

Is that a something I should worry about? Is the windshield cowl designed to slide water over it and not let water into its holes?

My next mod will be the Alta exhaust , but they are currently on 2-3weeks back order.

I installed the JCW steering wheel a couple days ago. I must say I felt in love with it the second I touched it. The soft and beefy feel to it is so inviting. It's definitely something everyone should get. It'll make you want to drive even more.

I wouldn't worry about rain impacting the open end of the filter. I live in Florida and my CAI & filter have survived two Florida summers. We have some torrential rain at times and my car has fared well, both driving in said weather and being parked outside at work.
