Sneed Super Cooper build thread 400WHP

People have ask me to create a build thread for the current Super Cooper we are building. This one has a 400whp target. 1.6L engine with Garrett GTX30 ball bearing turbo, Sneed Super Cooper head w/ Schrick cam, Ferrea valves and springs, fully ported and polished, CP pistons and Carrillo rods, Sneed Super Cooper intake manifold, AEM stand alone ECU, Spec stage 3 clutch and Aluminum flywheel, front mount intercooler and 4" exhaust. I'll try to keep the thread updated as we go along. You can also check our FB page for updates too. https://www.facebook.com/sneedspeedshop

Interesting to see this beast completed. What kind of dollars do you estimate
for the total build? What are you going to put that motor in?

Your next big problem is going to be how are you going to stop all that HP?
Last MINI I saw with that kind of HP was melting the rotors. No not pad transfer. Melting the rotors. Ian Stewart had been running the hell out of it at
Thunder Hill. He said the breaks were hot and not working. I worked in a steal mill as a kid. You never forget the smell of melting steel. The rotors were melting not just hot. Glowing red hot and dripping even after a cool down lap. It was a full race car with big racing breaks and there were not enough.

The car was hella fast. One of the instructors at TH has an Ferrari 430 track car. The MINI went by him like he was standing still. Very impressive in capable hands.

400WHP?! I wanna see the tires that will be cursed with handling that, or trying to rather. Also interested in the pistons/compression ration as well!

Rods are Carrillo, Pistons are CP. Compression 8.3 - stock ratio. This is the second Super Cooper we have done and we have found that lowering the compression makes the car laggy off boost. It'll be running on 110 octane race fuel also.

The engine is going in a R53 race car.

Super Cooper heads for now for sell on Sneed4Speed.com http://www.sneed4speed.com/products/...s-and-jcw.html head cost includes core charge.

We also have just the valve train listed if you want to do your own porting and machine work or run in a class where porting is illegal.

I'm gonna hit you guys up for head work after my warranty is over if you're still around by 2015.

Edit: What about the exhaust manifold. Going to mount up the Garret to a ported JCW?

We've been around 11 yrs now

No, it'll have a custom turbo manifold to fit the turbo in the space between the engine and firewall. Its kind of tight back there. We'll be building it next week.
