I like your choice of Intake Manifold Fasteners.

Working on a Super Cooper intake manifold. These fix the air/fuel distribution issues that cause MINIs to burn the #4 or #1 piston. They work on all R53 MINIs and will be up on the site for sale soon. I just don't have any finished pictures yet. All the other Super intakes are on cars already, so I can't get pics.

Update on the Super Cooper. Turbo manifold is starting and the intercoooler is installed. This car has the radiator mounted in the back. It was already done by the customer but isn't required for a Super Cooper conversion. For cars with front radiators, the intercooler is mounted in the bumper opening and the bumper plastic is modified.

Curious what you are using to seal the oil pan. With the pan being notorious for leaking and the amount of heat I'm sure that thing will produce, any special tricks?

The oil pans leak on the R53 doesnt really have anything to do with power. Its mainly because of the different expansion rates of aluminum (oil pan) and cast iron (engine block) and the lack of gasket and cheaper sealant the factory uses. We install an aftermarket oil pan gasket and use Black "gasket maker" RTV to repair the oil pan leaks. They wont leak again if the repair is done that way regardless of power levels.

Are you talking about the intake or exhaust? The intake is a packaging and cost issue. The intake fits very tight in the front of the car and to create an equal length intake would be very expensive with only a low gain in power of the one we made with just an increased plenum.
The exhaust manifold is a packaging issue. There's just not room to run equal length tubes and make everything fit.

I'm curious how you routed the oil cooler lines. I had to change the rear most fitting to a 90 degree so that the axle wouldn't contact the oil line.

Its a wastegate for the turbo. It looks like they are wastegating from just the one runner.

Ok. I didn't notice the lack of a waste gate on the turbo housing, but that makes sense. Thanks!

You only need to wastegate off one runner because the other runners will back feed over into the wastegate runner when the gate opens and drops the plenum pressure. If you dump to much exhaust gas to quickly then the turbo can despool and lose boost.

would this be possible without the standalone aem? what happens to the stock sensor on the throttle body is it still used? and how are you gonna move the new tb is it still gonna be electric or cable linkage now.

The Super Cooper Jr. runs on the stock ECU with tune and uses the stock supercharger. But the Super Cooper cant use the stock ECU. Even with tuning on the stock ECU the turbo engine is just to far outside the stock envelope to make the ECU work. The new TB uses a cable to operate the throttle and we replace the stock gas pedal with the cable friendly type.

thank you for the reply and cant wait for the finished product. also how is your cooling system gonna work. will you use something electric or non s water pump. will your gauge cluster still be fully functional with the aem system? i know this will be a race car but will the mpg monitor be effected on the gauge cluster?

We are going to use an electric water pump. The gauge cluster wont work anymore with the stand alone.

thats really cool have you decided on which cluster to go with? in the future if the company decides on making a honda k20 swap kit I would be the first one to be on it.
