Are there any stock honda's that can beat a stock MCS

Just wondering what stock Honda's if any can take the stock MCS. I was driving home from work yesterday was messing around with a Civic SI (newer) and an S2000. Traffic was too heavy to really get going to fast but was wondering if the mini would take or at least keep up with the S2000. Before the mini I road a bike that would take any car no matter what.

I am waiting for the MCS I just bought to come back from the shop. Haven't driven it for more than a few minutes. Until it gets here, I'm driving an 09 Civic Si. If the Cooper is faster than that, I will be more than pleased. That si is no joke. However, you have to drive like an *** to get any power out of it. It is pretty fun to wind it up to 8k. Makes some good noise, too.

Having grippy tires would help but if you were completely stock then-

S2000 would not be beat by a MINI.

MINI

2003 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works 0-60 mph 6.1 Quarter Mile 14.3

2004 Mini Cooper S (Manual) 0-60 mph 7.1 Quarter mile 15.1

2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP 0-60 mph 5.9 Quarter Mile 14.4

2007 Mini Cooper S 0-60 mph 6.1 Quarter mile 15.0

2013 MINI GP2
0-60: 5.9 sec.

Civic SI
2013. Civic. 0-60: 9.7 sec 1/4 mile: 17.1 sec.

2013. Civic Si. 0-60: 6.6 sec 1/4 mile: 14.9 sec.

S2000

"2000 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 5.7 Quarter mile 14.0

2003 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 6.2 Quarter mile 14.7 (Manual)

2004 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 5.7 Quarter mile 14.0

2006 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 5.4 Quarter mile 13.8

2008 Honda S2000 CR 0-60 mph 5.6 Quarter mile 14.2"

Before I got the MINI, I was considering putting a Honda JDM B18C (180 horse, DOHC from Integra type R) into an early 90's Civic (near 2000 pounds). I agree some of the Honda's are no joke. I had an '02 Civic Si once. Gotta keep it wound up though. Honda's are not known to make a lot of torque, and they are known to like the high revs.

I much prefer the lower end torque that the SC on a Cooper S makes. -And just wait till I add a sc reduction pulley!

My wife drives an 08 Impreza, 2.5 H4. Took it to the store yesterday. I also have a 95 Accord EX, it's got the 2.2 liter VTEC, and 5 speed. I keep it around for "just in case" I need to do amy extensive repairs to MINI. Seemed great in its day for a family car but it weighs a lot more than the MINI. It's eager to rev freely, and shifts nice, effortless clutch etc. -Both cars feel pretty gutless by the butt-dyno after driving the MINI for a while. They also seem to have a ton of body-roll and very little road-feeling transmitted back through the steering wheel.

I know I didn't answer your rhetorical question very well. You'll find the mini to be FUN. Sometimes I think it sounds and feels like its quicker than it really is. Remember though, it's a road-coarse type car -not really a drag car. It will take some significant modding to get you into the 13 second quarter mile range (I think that's possible in an R53). -then you'd take most all street cars you find.

Just have fun and enjoy.

Before the mini for the past 15yrs Ive been driving mostly trucks and bikes and my wifes car once in awhile. I do have a pulley waiting to go on, just have not had the time, Hopefully this Monday. Seems like everytime I have time somthing else comes up. I am looking forward to getting the pulley and plugs installed so i can play some more. When I rode the bike it was hard to get the ricers to bite even had a hard time to get other bikes to bite (except for the HD's who thought their bike were fast)

Yeah. That v-tech is fun, but i can wait to have some low end back. I had a few 80's bimmers, and they weren't going to win any drag races. But they were awesome to drive. The 2.7 was a torque monster. Made any street fun to drive on.

I knew the S2000 had quite a bit more HP. I tried to get in one once but did not fit so I never really looked at getting one. The mini feels like (to me) a 2 stroke motorcycle a little slow of the line but once it gets up on the SC it pulls hard all the way to redline.

::think "thank god he said Bimmer,... a Beamer is a motorcycle"

By the way, Welcome to NAM (if you're new here). You'll fit right in.

Yeah, that straight 6 in the BMW is nice. My Dad had one.

Ciao

Thanks. It's great to be back in something Bavarian. Even if it is FWD. Can't wait to see if it has an LSD!
