I waxed my car before Christmas and I'm still trying to get the wax off that happened to rub onto the black trim.

It's has a white chalk like look to the black trim and no matter how much I was the trim the best I can do is use Mothers Back to Black which only solves the problem temporarily. The next wash it shows right back up.

Is there anything I can use or do to get rid of that wax that happened to rub onto the trim? I'm nervous to wax it again because of this.

A white artist eraser will work. I think it is the oil of the peanut butter that helps remove the wax.
I use the Zaino Bros Perfect tire gloss which works great on vinyl or plastic.

Skippy Smooth Peanut Butter!

I use it all the time and it works great. No scrubbing, just a simple wipe on and wipe off. No need to pay large sums for other products when you can get it for $0.99 at the grocery store. I was skeptical at first, but it truly works.

 

I haven't tried the peanut butter yet (or specifically, peanut oil), but Mother's Back To Black works pretty good for me. Of course, I also use Griot's Garage Best of Show Wax, which doesn't leave much residue on the plastic.

Wash with dish wash soap, then use some Back to Black from Mother's.

 

I mask off the plastic parts....takes mabye 10 minutes and makes waxing a pleasure!

Anyways, I was part of this thread BIGTIME last year, created a f'ing nightmare with a very uncareful eax job. Scratch the PB trick, that didn't do a damn thing for me. Neither did WD40...

Finally ordered some stuff online, think it was Meguires #39 and 40, I'll check tonight when I get home. In any case, the stuff works very very well. One is a cleaner, one is a protectant.

 

Nice thing about the peanut butter trick. You can include the dog in the "removal" stage

 

Smooth peanut butter works wonders for the wax removal.

More important question is what type of wax is everyone using? I need to wax my mini, but I dont know what is the best-- in terms of shine and protection. Any suggestions?

Used mothers back to black today,,,looks great right after.

 

I contacted Griot's Garage, who provide great products and they recommended using their interior cleaner followed by their vinal & rubber dressing. It does a great job and the trim looks just like new. They also have a super product for removing rubber spots on the windows.

 

Sorry, that should be water spots from the windows. Duh.
