HI!
Well yesterday I went to our local Mini dealership. I asked about the driving lamps (Price etc) I travel often to USA and I have the chance to buy those here in Mexico or in USA so I could pick the best price. Well they told me it would be about 500.020 USD installed. I said, no I want to install them by myself and they told me that then they cannot sell them to me!!!!! can you believe that s**t? Has anyone had tat kind of stupid answer?

Well I was mad an since I had the e-mail of BMW general manager in Mexico I asked him if that is a valid policy. I want to see the answer!

That is not true, the part's department should be able to sell just the lamps to you.

When we added our 2 extra lights, we had to buy the hardware for the lights from the dealer, it wasn't cheap, but they sold them to us no questions asked.

$500.20 is not a bad price. Considering they are $400 just for the lights. I paid $720.00 for mine. I don't mind. They installed them, and they're covered under warrenty. I'd rather have paid more for them, and had it done right. I love them, and am happy with them. Good luck. (they pushed mine through, and instlled them the day the car arrived, hence the higher install cost.)

Hi Minimx. please get me the BMW Mexico manager's address... i have a little problem on my own, i bought a spolier they said it would get here to the Guadalajara dealer in 2 weeks... more than two months have passed and they keep saying that the "spoiler's on it's way".

On the lights, there is no reason why they shouldn't sell them to you without the installation. Worst case go to the "procuraduria federal del consumidor", they make dealers react fast to your requests.

Saludos de Guadalajara. Esteban

Hola Esteban!

Well looks like we are dealing with the same dealer! (I'm in Guadalajara too so we should). I had same problem with my Mud flaps. Looks like the guys in parts don't take costumers too serious. What I did for that problem was to escalate the problem with the service manager, end of the story my mud flaps got here in 48 hrs (After waiting for them for 2 weeks). The one who could help you could be Manuel Medina (mmedina@bmwberlina.com) he's the brand's manager (Mini) in Guadalajara.

it is cool to see someone else from guadalajara here.

Saludos!

Hola David. So Berlina Motors in Guadalajara... Overall good dealer, a little slow on spare parts and real bad with your front light thing (and my spoiler!!)

Manuel Medina sold me the mini almost a year ago... i haven't followed up with him on the spoiler issue, but yes i'll go chase Manuel (sometimes i find him at Tacos Providencia or driving dealer's Minis by my neighborhood)...

Gracias y saludos.

P.S. Have you noticed that here in Guadalajara Mini Owners do not have the "wave" and "beam" culture? Is it a Mexican thing or just a Guadalajara thing?

I think Classic MINI in Ohio will sell them to you. Note the dealer SHOULD also install heavier gas struts if you also have HID lights.

You can buy the factory driving lights( whole light kit) from Moss Motors for about
400.00 U.S. and install yourself
