I just set an appointment up ahead of time since I am 130 miles from the dealer. I took the car in and they changed the windshield no charge. Make sure to mention that they get plenty of glue on the upper rubber trim piece. Mine fell out a week later going 80MPH. Then the A pillar trim popped loose too.

If the crack is genuinely a stress crack...Mini should replace it under warranty. Mini just superceded the windshield part number to a new number that is suppose to be 20% stronger.

How long did it take for them to change it? I have a crack too. Can they do this during my regular service so I can drive it home within a couple hours?

Well it IS a stress crack and I'll be getting the stronger windshield. The dealer said it would take at least a full day to be returned because the sealent or glue needs to dry overnight at least. Made my appointment and it will all be fixed no charge.. BTW they checked it with a pen on teh windsheild to see if there were any chips, I guess if it's not totally in the windsheild then its nto a stress crack to them. per suggestion of another post I put masking tape over the crack so no chips would hit it after the fact. Glad I did too. ANyway, it will all be taken care. Just another day in the saga that is mini ownership.
