Clutch upgrade

I'm slowly preparing for what I feel is the inevitable failure of my clutch and I am wondering if anyone has recommendations on an aftermarket clutch upgrade. I understand a lot of people will recommend oem but I am looking for other options. Is there a good choice minus the os giken price? Willing to consider all input.

I went with the ACT heavy duty clutch, pressure plate and the ACT Streetlite flywheel. I have about 50,000 miles on it and it still grabs just as hard as it did after I installed it. I really like it a lot! Whole you're in there you may as well install an LSD, it's not that much more work at all.

IMO and many others is to use the stock clutch to avoid issues that many have had. Do a search on clutches and you will see.

^^ This!

It is tempting to think that "upgrading" a clutch is the right thing to do, but there have been a lot of unhappy people over it.

^^^This. Unless you have a compelling reason to go with a performance clutch, go stock or Valeo clutch replacement. You'll thank me later.

I dont recommend going aftermarket unless you are over the 250 HP. I'm on FX100 CM clutch with the lightweight flywheel and wished i keep the oem installed. I have very light rattle when its cold and from the get go RPM tends to drop fast and sometimes i stall the engine. Other than rattle and RPM dropping fast (due to lightness of the flywheel) i love the holding power of the clutch system.

The RPM's drop faster due to the lightened flywheel. It's an adjustment that you'll get used to. No big deal and it is really nice how fast your car will rev during acceleration. I wouldn't recommend something if I didn't completely believe in it myself. You'll be totally happy with the performance and longevity of the ACT system if you chose to go that route.

^^^^Like he said you'll thank him later but not until you go with lightened flywheel and experienced it first hand.

The factory did a lot of R & D to get the clutch we have OEM. Yes, others grip harder or faster but do you need it? Do you drive peak hour when a heavy 'sports' clutch could be a pain?
