Stock Strut Replacement Question
I'm getting ready to replace all four struts after 266,000 miles, yeah its due heck its probably been due for a while. This is a daily driver and is all stock. I am torn between buying Monroe OESpectrum Struts for $71 or Sachs for $100. The Sachs are a little more but is it worth it, I've never heard of the brand. I know the Monroe name and their quality. If anyone has used these products I would appreciate your input on this. Thank you.
For that price go ahead and get the Koni FSD's they have a lifetime warranty, and will be a great ride. Plus they are on super sale right now.

FSDs are great, but still more expensive than the Sachs.
FWIW, Sachs has been an OEM supplier to many German auto makers for many years. They make very good quality products.
If you're willing to throw the extra cash in for FSDs, the go for it.
Monroe are crap IMHO.

Rolling on FSD's. Made my ride so much smoother. And we have bad roads. Really, really bad roads. Bought them from waymotorworks too.

I have had the Sachs on my '04 for over a year and love them. If I was going to race I would probably go with the Konis, but for the street I couldn't beat the performance or cost.

I went with Bilstein touring shocks from Pelican Parts they are less expensive than the Sachs. The set of shocks and struts was less than $300. I changed springs at the same time and the ride is considerably softer.
Making the ride softer may reduce the 'go cart' handling they brag about. It depends what you want from your ride. Monroe are a very basic shock, they work ok, but you get what you pay for.

The right strut was leaking at around 60k, the previous owner had lowered the vehicle and I was tired of scraping bottom on speed bumps. I replaced the tires and most of the go-kart feel returned without the harshness. I plan to replace the sway bars in a few months.
