R50/53 dash defect or part of design
has anyone looked underneath their dash right above both sides of the center speedometer. there appears to be two circular cutouts where the dash connects to the panel.
the problem is you can see a portion of the circular cutout as it rests right above the dash panel. although it's pretty much out of the normal vision, is this a defect or part of the design...poor design?
for me, now that i've seen it, it's hard to ignore.
like to hear some thoughts.
i have a 2004 mcs and i'm still breaking it in nicely. i have just around 500mi now.

Honestly I have never looked there, but all I can say that I am very pleased with the build quality of my '04 MCS. If your dashboard isn't rattling because of this "gap" then by al means leave it alone....You don't want the dealer correcting something like that and introducing rattles and squeaks that you never had before.
BTW, welcome and enjoy your new MCS!

I just now checked my '04 MCS and those holes are NOT visible. My guess is that it was just poor assembly on your dash. You might try loosening the adjacent screws a little and pushing the dash cover in a fraction of an inch.

It does looklike a case of sloppy assembly. My 04 MCS doesn't have the holes showing. In fact I'm generally pleased with the way mine is put together. Agree with Nick T you might try and see if you can cover it up by shifting the dash a bit............mgg
when i have time, i'll bring it in to mini and ask them to look at the dash and see what can be done.
as for the white around the dimmer bezel, i think the photo is really magnifying the problem. it's not as dark as the other hazard bezel, but it's not to discernable unless you really look for it. anyway, it came like this and i haven't cleaned it yet since i just took delivery less than 2 weeks ago.
