I am looking for the complete set for my '04 S. I have seen a few different kinds: The first has kind of a modern look to them. They are kind of thin and just cover the very front. The second type, which i prefer, are thicker and cover nearly the entire silver part of the speedo, tach, and shift rings. They both look eqully good but I prefer the thicker type because they look a little more retro. The problem with most of the on-line catalogues is that they don't show how they look installed. Any experiences and recommendations?

I'm REAL sure I don't want one of those on my Mini. Even with a cover over it...

Oops, sorry - vintage Mini talk for the speedo gauge cluster. I guess they are called "Bezels" in the new MINI. Anyway, that is what I am looking for. MiniMania has a nice set - I may go with them unless anybody knows of a nicer set:

I don't believe putting a few chrome rings over the speedo and tach goes into the heavily modified catagory. It goes into the catagory of what BMW should have done but was too cheap. It completes the look. Minis were made to modify and customise starting with the Speedwell, Wood & Picket, and Radford conversions in 1960. I like tasteful accessories that look as though they could have been factory installed. Putting goofy Labro doors and ricer accessories on a MINI is another story.

Rick, I recommend you check out the chrome bezel accessories offered by RSpeed, another NAM sponsor. I got mine there and am very happy with the quality of the parts and the service. You can get to RSpeed through NAM's Sponsor Directory. I think all their chrome stuff comes from Chromdesign in Germany, which also has a website if you're interested.

I've just come back from the NYC car show, where they have the new convertible MINI on display... The dashboard came with STOCK chrome accents. once they start getting sold, the parts should be availble from our dealers.
