R50/53 Extended warranty?
Don't know about warranty, but I got an offer from my dealer to extend the 3 year/36,000 mile maintenance plan to 4 year/50,000 miles for $499.00.

I'm wondering where/how do you get the warranties that run five/seven years, etc.? Is this though some independent company or through MINI. I'm aware of the four year extention... but, with my driving I need something a lot longer. Just totatlly ignorant when it comes to this sort of thing.

MINI does not offer extended warranty contracts at this time, neither does BMW. If you want to purchase warranty coverage after your factory 4 year/50K mile expires, you MUST purchase aftermarket coverage.
People are getting confused with the extra year "free maintenance" contract MINI sells for $499+ and has nothing to do with extending the factory 4 year bumper to bumper limited warranty.

The offer was not a warranty extention, just an extention of the 3 year/ 36,000 mile scheduled free maintenance coverage to match the warranty coverage time frame.
