Mysterious Ticking Noise

Hello everyone interested in this Thread! There is a ticking noise coming from the right side of my car when I drive down the road as slow speeds (>25 mph) and it doesn't always happen. Sometimes it clicks when I am turning right and goes away when I turn back left or to go straight.

Along with this Ticking noise, my car also has an issue with my battery light. When I accelerate hard, the light comes on and when I let up, the light goes off. It confuses me.

Anyone have any insight?

The last time my Alternator went out, the battery light stayed on and a bunch of other lights went on and off at different times, then lost my power steering the the car quit. With this, the car only has an issue when I am accelerating and doesn't take away from anything else.

With the ticking noise, it isn't very loud but sometimes it can be louder then before, if that makes any sense. It is not constant, sometimes faint, and sometimes loud. Almost sounds like someone is tapping on the table with their finger or something. It goes every time the wheel rotates too and I just put my winter wheels on my car and before with my summer wheels, I didn't hear any noises.

The ticking or clicking sound when turning could be a drive shaft constant velocity joint worn. Try clamping vice grips on the shaft and see if there is any play in the shaft by hand.

could also be a wheel bearing?

did you change the battery when you got a new alternator?
check all your cables, see if theyre tight. under hard acceleration, the car will use more electric Power to fire the spark plugs, thats why i say to have both checked again, sounds like you lose voltage when giving it gas.

I did have the battery replaced when I got my new alternator. Maybe its the wires and spark plugs. My MINI almost has 227,000 miles and none of that has been replaced ever. The clicking noise is for sure coming from the back though. I believe the rear passenger side wheel. The Noise goes away when the breaks are applied. I am still confused! hahah

check for a stone in the treads

I think you said you just put on your snow tires, I would check for a stone in the tread (or nail or something) that could make that sound, other wise CV joint is a good guess but really it could be anything, even the alternator it's up in the pass corner.

hmm... your stumping me now!
although, my buddy had something similar. turns out he hit a curb or something, and his rotor was scraping against a dust shield or something. maybe when you changed tires / wheels, something got loose or stuck or bent? pull that wheel off and look around good. try to rotate the hub, see if you can make the noise.

im amazed about your mileage (over 200k, really!?) and nearly appalled at the fact you havent changed plugs or wires yet! how is that car even driving!? please, go spend $6 on new plugs! should take about 10 mins to replace
