R50/53 "Tuner Transformation" Mini; Tue. evening...
OK fellow Mini enthusiasts. Let's not forget to tune in to SPEEDCHANNEL Tuesday evening and watch the 1/2 hour episode of Tuner Transformation. They will take a stock Mini Cooper and modify it over a one week period. The owner has no clue what type of modifications will be done. Should be interesting. I predict new wheels and tires, exhaust system, brake upgrade, suspension, and a slight engine modification.
Knowing thoise guys they probably will have a budget of 5000 to 6000, and that means
Wheels & Tire Combo 1200
Body Kit 2000
Intake 240
Exaust 600
and problably an ECU 600
The rest problably in ugly stuff like neon lights and what they call cool graphics.
But I totally agree with you we have to see the show and look at the finish product.

The dude whose car got "transformed" started a thread on here about a week ago. He said he coulnd't give out any details.
I'm sure he'll come back today and bump the thread.
It should be a cool episode. I predict a graphics package including a pair of ***** painted on the hood.

Seemed like the only thing he really liked about it was the LSD.
The 'bodykit' guy was annoying. The reference to BMW MINI Cooper S at the beginning just showed they were clueless (I'm sure she was reading off a cue card, so don't blame her).
I love how she was trying to get him excited about the SC at the end, as if the car didn't come with one the first place!!
Overall, I wasn't impressed with the show.
Hope he liked the car more than he seemed to show at the end.

Come on guys! Lay off him, he got a freakin supercharger with the car. How exciting is that! I would have been jumping up and down. Someday, I may be able to spend $10,000 and getting a supercharger for my MCS.
In all seriousness. On the one hand I thought it was lame and on the other it was pretty cool. For $10,000 they could have done a whole lot more, if they had just done there homework. They spend most of the money throwing out his pulley and giving him a kit that gives him just a few more horsepower. The LSD wasn't a Quaife, but a cheaper Mini Mania unit.
On the other hand, he now has a JCW kit, which will increase the value of the car. He did get some cool 18" JCW wheels, and he got some cool graphics. If he likes it cool! But I don't think they really knew what they were talking about. They got excited about giving him a supercharger, what the heck did they think they took out of the car.
I was waiting to see some nitrous (for some fun), some really cool coilovers like some Leda's, maybe a cool brake kit, and a water to air intercooler. That would have made it much more autox competitive.
I think his face said it all at the end, when they first announced it to him.

Check out my post here, I'm the guy who had the car on the show.
