Looking for a o2 simulator, no luck

Im trying to find a o2 simulator for my Mini S but not having any luck. Theres a site that I found that only sells simulators but they have been on backorder for like a year now. I also bought one from a guy on Amazon and found that it didnt work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a new technique that being applied recently that doesn't involve using a simulator...it's surprisingly simple...take the O2 bung and weld it onto a extension tube approximately 2-3" long...weld it back to the exahaust pointing down stream at apprimately 45 degrees...this backs the O2 sensor away from the direct flow of the exhaust and tricks it into behaving as if there were a cat up stream...the header on my turbo Cobalt uses this technique and it works

I have heard of the extended bung. So no issues at all?

Try an non-fouler that you buy from any auto parts supplier. It is a threaded adapter that is intended to space a spark plug further away from the combustion chamber if you have an oily engine. There are multiple types, different threads, tapered etc. You need to drill the center so the o2 sensor can fit inside. Worked well on a Saab with aftermarket cat with just one. You can add multiple non-foulers to space it even further away. You do need the space though.

Interesting...never heard of this but sounds reasonable...

The o2 sensor after the cat is supposed to read
the same readings as the o2 sensor before, it needs
to read less or lower. So you cannot
just leave it out. Moving the o2 out of the
exhaust gas delays or minimizes the oxygen
it sees.
I have an electronic o2 simulator if you are interested.
I have never used it.

Are you saying that the above exhaust header with extended O2 bung won't work? It appears to have been working just fine on my 340whp Cobalt (and all other Cobalts equipped) for nearly 80k...

Hi Msfitoy, no I am saying if you are running catless or keep getting downstream o2 cel's, moving the downstream o2 sensor out of the exhaust flow, like your downpipe does, is the way to go. The o2 sensor will be looking at an almost stalled or reduced exhaust flow and think the cat is doing its job. The downstream sensor should have a reduced or lower oscillations than the upstream, if not you get a cel. There are many websites who post the waveforms you get from the more sophisticated odb readers. This is one..http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...r-replacement/

No problem.. I had to search for downpipe Cobalt to see what you 'guys' are up to..
I see there are catless systems which have the similar designs to your o2 'tube'. Interesting..

Does the standoff for the DS 02 sensor protrude into the pipe or is it welded flush with the ID? We do this all the time to produce some vacuum to pull PCV Gasses out of the crankcase on drag cars, but I have never seen it used to fool the 02.

I replaced my stock header with a Megan Racing header and ran into the o2 sensor issue if though I added flanges to my old cat and bolted in on behind the header. To resolve this issue I ended up just buying a $15 45° bung extender from Amazon and screwwd it on just like is mentioned about welding on a bung extension. So far the issue has been resolved.
Here is the buyer beware comment... I thought I needed to spend $$ on a simulator and tried to order one from a company called Magnum Tuning. 3 days after ordering it I had still not heard anything about a shipment so I tried to contact them. After several attempts to.email.them and no pho e number to call I got a bit upset so I posted a fraud alert on their forum. They responded quickly with this and started a rude dialog with me in very broken english, removed my post, and "baned" me from their forum. All I said to deserve this was that my card was charged, I had no info on my order, and I could not contact them. I said that these were all markings of a fraudulent site. They may be ligit, I don't know nor will ever know, but I do know this for sure... their customer service was abysmal and most of all... you don't need to waste $80 on a simulator.

Good luck with your mods.
