R50/53 Cell phone holder.
Somewhere I saw a cell phone holder that attaches to the vertical post next to the radio.......can't find it now. Don't need an amplifier......just something for easy reach. Can anyone help me out?
You may be thinking about the Panavise product (panavise.com). They make a custom bracket for the Mini which utilizes the two screws holding the radio in on the right side (you need to remove the downtube to install) and they have separately-available cell phone holders (based on your size requirements) which attach in turn to the bracket.
I have one on order as we speak for my i-Pod as it looked like a particularly clean application. It's also less expensive that the clip-on or cup-holder ones.
I found that the easiest way to order the pieces were from canyon river cellular (canyonriver.com). Their phone number is (972) 618-2706. I believe it's in Texas.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response, ncdave. I've done some more searching and found ProClip mounts and holders which looks to me to be the best thing to use for a cell phone. The only problem is that I have an LG model VX4500 and they don't list a holder for that particular one.......it's fairly new. Have e-mailed them to see if the holder for the VX6000 will work.
For the base, I'm using Pro Clips as well. If you have the larger cup holder, I recommend the left side Pro Clip base to prevent obstruction when using the cup holder. I initially mounted on the right side using angled mount and later switched to the left side without angle instead due to the obstruction.
For the actual holder, I'm using an expendable universal phone holder that can accommodate most any size phone or PDA, in case I change to a different phone later.

Nice photos! I only considered the left side mount.....where did you get your universal holder......and did it come with the proper holes for mounting? Sounds like a very practical decision.
I found one that works even better for me than ProClips. The Autotecnica Universal Phone Holder can be attached higher up to the right of the tachometer while still sitting above the wiper control arm. It uses a 3M adhesive tape backing on a mounting bracket that sticks firmly to the plastic dash.
I just got an LG VX4500 cell phone from Verizon with a built in speaker-phone and optional 'driving mode' use of voice commands. In this position it's closer to my voice and becomes a virtually hands free car phone. Great phone......and a great accessory that makes it more comfortable and safer to use while driving.

Here's a pic of the Panavise mount which I'm using for my iPod
but it's basically a mobile phone holder.
There's more info over here mini.uglydoris.com/archives/000023.html. If you do go w/ Panavise, note that they include instructions that are a bit different than uglydoris'...but I ended up using uglydoris' (which involved removing the glovebox).
