Door Opener Mod

Hey all. So I was getting tired of having nowhere to put my garage remote. I tried to velco it but I hated that. So I just used the empty space on my toggle switches and wired up a button. Looks ok doesnt it? Much better in my opinion.

Before I had this Little blue LED. I guess previous owner had an alarm installed.

This is what I did:

This is awesome! Nice job. Dang I wish I knew how to do electronic stuff. Where did you put the opener itself? Is it still accessible for battery changes?

Its basically behind the panel. If I undo the two screws from that panel behind the switches I can access it easily.

Perfect. I wasn't sure what the wire was coming out from below the switches. Do you have something else hidden under there too?

No those are the garage door wires. I had to run them down as you cant drill though the back because the switches are there. I didnt want to mess up the switches Just in case. Took the safer route. Theres a small enough crack to run down and back behind the panel.

Nice mod. Maybe someone can do this mod on the "call button" on the steering wheel.

I don't know anyone who removes their garage door opener from their car everytime they get home or go out.

This option is more of a stealth option too as the thief may not think to press that button to see what it does, I think if you're breaking into a car you''re not likely to press a button to see what it does... oops that the was the panic alarm / driving lights / horn / stereo on

Gutterman, Sorry for the late reply. It was a 1/2 Inch momentary switch that I bought at radio shack

A integrated relay into the circuit will be awesome for this mod.
Built in garage opener in the car will not open the garage door without powering up the car.
Its just a thought guys.
