Squealing Brakes-Cannot Figure it out

I apologize in advance If I've missed this post somewhere else, however I've just replaced the front rotors and pads on my 03 mcs with stock rotors and minted extreme pads. They will not stop squealing! I even took them off and applied CRC disk brake quiet to the back but no luck. Any ideas?

Did you follow the standard procedure to bed the new pads? Also, I'm not familiar with the pads you installed, but some high performance pads are known to squeal. Race type pads can make lots of noise, but in those applications all the driver cares about is stopping power not noise.

yes, bedded, everything was done correctly. These aren't considered high performance pads I don't think

some pads will make noise for as much as 1000 miles as they bed (quick bed applies to race prep' not everyday driving)

Make sure you put the quiet stuff on any surface of the pad that could possibly touch the caliper. Back and sides (including the notch where it fits into the caliper). I forgot if ours has it (I've slept since I changed them), but on my Challenger, there is a little aluminum clip that fits between the caliper and pad in that little notch that if it's not also coated, I get a slight squeal.

Ok thanks for the tip. I was sure I covered everything but maybe just the back of the pads. I'll try to take them back off and cover the sides as well. Just don't want to get any on the pads. Could it just be the material that the pads are made of?

Yes, it could be the material and just needs to bed in as the others have noted. Which pads did you use? I put Hawks HPS on ours and they have a short "sound" (not a squeal, not heard outside the car) just before full stop that goes away after they've warmed up.

I have heard, but don't quote me on this, that those can squeal for a long period of time (I've read up to a ~5000 miles). That's not cool.

I believe I've fixed it. I took the brakes back off this weekend and somehow it looks like the disc brake quiet got pushed around the outside of the pads instead of the part contacting the calipers. I heard a tip that if you use grease it works well so I applied more DBQ and then piled grease on top and vualah! no squeals....yet. (crossing fingers). thanks for the help.
