R50/53 should i switch dealer??
i've already deposited $500 for a MINI COOPER S in Boston. However i think the customer service is kinda bad. for almost a week i've been trying to get the interest rate for the loan from the dealer. i called and i was told that i got approved. then i asked what the interest was and he said he didnt know and would call me back. over 4 days has passed and he still hasnt called me yet. he emailed a few hours ago and recommend that i come and pick up the car early next week. this doesn't make any sense. i dont even know the interest rate they're offering and yet they want me to get the car. should i switch dealer? i dont want to go through this bad customer service later on with my car because i assume that if i buy the car from this dealer, then all the follow ups(go in for services and stuff) will be at this dealer. what do u guys think?
You can have your car serviced at any dealer, not just at the selling dealer.
You can also walk away from the deal if the interest rate (or anything else, for that matter) is not to your satisfaction. Especially if they don't even have the courtesy to tell you in advance what the rate will be. You will get your deposit back and can then go elsewhere. Don't be intimidated by them.
But, who knows, you might be getting a great rate!
Unfortunately, from my experience, BMW has the worst customer service in the industry. That's just the way it is -- take it or leave it...

These people are making a *lot* of money off your purchase... if you don't feel they are treating you right then walk away from it! I can tell you that they are never going to treat you any better then they are now.

Get the name of their accountant at the dealer and talk to him/her directly.
Otherwise, just switch dealers...don't make the purchase until you are
happy and comfortable with who you are dealing with.

If you really mean "Boston" and not just the area, then you must be dealing with Herb Chambers; and if that's the case, then it's surprising that you haven't experienced some other customer service disaster by this stage in the game. Check out this site (Dealer Rating forum?) as well as the general perception (among thinking consumers) in the area, and you'll find that HC is as big a bunch of criminals as you can find in the world of auto sales. The only thing that's worse at HC (Herb Chambers MINI) is their service...which is completely over the top in it's degree of badness.
So yes, see if you can buy the car -- you'll probably need to go to the dealership and actually push your way into the sales manager's office to find the rate before they show it to you on a contract. If the rate's acceptable, then buy. If not, then get financing outside the dealer. If for some reason you MUST have dealer financing and HC's rate turns out to be unacceptable, then go to the other local dealer (MINI of Peabody)...or buy your car out of state and just get it serviced at Peabody. AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you ever consider servicing a car at Herb Chambers!!!
Oh, and if you do buy from HC, be sure to check the car VERY carefully at delivery. We've heard some real horror stories right here on NAM concerning delivery errors at that place.

I can't speak of any personal experiences with Herb Chambers but I can definately speak very highly of Mini of Peabody. I did NOT buy my MCS from Mini of Peabody but I have had it serviced there and used them for all my needs. It's hard to believe how nice I have been treated by everyone at that dealership. Very professional, courteous and just out and out nice people. I am no more special than anyone else that goes there but they make me feel like I'm their most important customer.
Buy your car at HC if you feel comfortable with the deal, and then have it serviced at Mini of Peabody.

Arrange your own financing through your bank or credit union. You can even do it online. Then go in with the financing deal and collect your car. Tell 'em to match the rate or better it. These putz's aren't disclosing the rate cuz its higher than market & they're getting a kickback off it. Screw 'em. Do it yourself, Save money for accessories. But buy them & get your service somewhere else. Don't like to deal with them? Then why not call Mini of the Hamptons for a car?
Remember, you've got the money, you call the shots. Your money is good at any dealer. They don't always have another buyer lined up. Your best tool is simply get up & walk out the door whenever you don't think you're being treated properly. Also, if you don't like their behavior now, it'll probably be worse after you buy.

iskyal, if you are speaking of Herb Chambers MINI, RUN-don't walk- AWAY as fast as you can. They have a horrible reputation from sales to service. Get to Peabody.
Why finance through them anyway? The rate will be higher and they will stroke you
royally. Belong to AAA? They have great rates. How about Rockland Federal Credit Union? For a $5- annual fee you'll get a super rate and none of the b.s. hassle grubbing from HC.

thankyou for the inputs guys. i guess i'll be switching to Peabody. i reason why i do the financing at the dealer is because i have very limited credit history. its very hard to find other places to loan money at a good rate since i always get rejected. once again, thanks.

Do yourself a favor and at least look into some other financing options as others have suggested. It can only help you in the long run. Credit Unions are a great option, even with a limited credit history.

I bought my MCS from Herb Chambers. It was a huge regret. I will never step foot in a Herb Chambers dealership again in my life! I wish I never gave them a penny. Customer service is TERRIBLE!!!! The moment they had my check in their hands, they could'nt give two shiits who I was. NEVER did they return a phone call to me before or after purchase. Not even the "manager"! Over a dozen calls!
They told me I would be driving my car in "3-4 days". My car was ready to pick up over three weeks later! Did they ever follow up on it? NEVER.
Go to MINI of Peabody!!!!!

actually i dont have a problem with the motor advisor(Azi), but i hate the financing manager dude. the way he talks seems so rude and i just dont like him at all. he's the one that i have trouble with. i cant really blame Azi because his job was basically to help me choose out a car...
That guy is pulling you financing power leverage right out of you. When I first walked into the mini dealer where I got my car it was similar to what you are describing. A helpful sales person and a pill of a financial manager. To make a long story short, I didn't agree to even pick a car before we had negotiated the interest rate. In the end I ended up with 2.75% thru chase but his original deal was for 5.99% I've been driving my car for 8 1/2 months and have used their service department a couple of times, I get excellent service and a loaner every time. The sales person nor the financial manager are friendly now but I don't care cause the service guy rocks. I love me mini!
