Greetings!

My wife and I really like the idea of removable graphics and stripes (is that a commitment problem?), so we ordered a set of stripes from FinishLine. They also carry static-cling flags, but only the Stars & Stripes and the Union Jack... this sounds like a great idea to me, but I'd want a custom design. I'm emailing Sign Edge and Squier Design to see if they can do static cling designs that large. Anybody have good/bad experiences with either company?

I've looked into Cooper Flags, and I might go that route, but I'd really like something removable if possible. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

There is another company here in Florida called http://www.cooperaccesories.com that also carry the static cling sunroof flags ($59 for the kit) but they also have the USA and British flags only....no mention of custom work.

Mike, welcome to NAM!

Initally I also favored the idea of having removable bonnet stripes and a roof flag for the simple reason of versatility. The magnetic stripes I purchased are great, no problem after 4k miles. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the cling-on roof flag. The first time I drove on highway with the roof flag, it flew away.

Just sent you a PM.

The static cling decals are great. I've got two of them myself. Just make sure you install them when the weather is warm and let them sit out in the sun for a while to bake on or they will blow off on the highway. I leave mine off for the winter anyway. That way they don't get damaged when I remove snow from the car so it's not an issue for me.

I'm with Jerseygirl on this one. If installed properly on a warm day, the static cling flag will not come loose due to speed or rain.

But a warm day is critical to really sticking the flag on there.

I had the static cling sunroof flag and was extremely pleased with it as it seemed solid and I liked the idea of being able to remove it (although I never did). Although mounted in warm weather, it only lasted about 6 months when it blew off at highway speeds creating a hazard to those behind me. Luckily, one half blew harmlessly out of the way (on the NJ Turnpike no less) and the other half blew into the woods.

I truly cannot recommend them. Have since replaced it with the 3M Perforated one from CooperFlags.

Same here. I liked the static cling ones but mine also blew off on the highway. I was on my way into work at 5 AM and was unable to find it. I really do not want to get another one and risk it flying onto someone's windshield. I reccomend the stick on one.

I have a static cling flag from cooperaccessories.com and have been happy with it so far...I had it on for about 4 months before giving it a rest for the winter. I ran it through an automated, but brushless, car wash about 4 times during that period and had no problems up to 90 MPH.

My advice if you get one would be (1) install on a warm day as others above suggested, (2) use a decent squeegee to get all the air pockets out, (3) use a blow dryer on the edges to make sure they are flat, and (4) check every once in a while to see if the edges are peeling up, and re-squeegee/blowdry the edges if they are.

FYI, Cooper Flags now offers non-perforated sunroof flags as well as perforated ones.

In any case, $55 cling-on from Cooper Accessories is a great value.
