Coolant Still dirty after flush
Hey guys,
I recently flushed my coolant out, filled it back up with zerex G-05 coolant, and noticed it is still a thick brownish color. The Zerex G-05 coolant is already clear/yellowish but I don't understand why the coolant still looks dirty. I flushed it out through the upper and lower radiator hoses and ran water through it until it ran clear. Any ideas?

Hard to be sure but it sounds like rust in the radiator.
Flushing will get some loose rust out but if you put in new coolant it will pickup more rust. It will turn coolant brownish color.
Sounds like you might eventually need a new radiator.

I don't know if it is a common issue or not.
An 03 is nearly 10 years old and depending on where the car was located and how it was maintained it is possible.
It could be just a little rust and doesn't necessarily need to be replaced. Take it to a radiator shop and have them do a thorough cleaning and get their opinion.
It might not be rust at all, hard to tell from the information that you have.

Lol....
Rust in the radiator?!
The radiator is aluminium tubes with crimped on plastic ends....they do fail, and start to leak after 10 years or so...it is a desgin flaw/charistic of this "modern" desgin that is now used by MOST car makers...eliminates the need to weld/braze the tubes to the endtanks...
It sounds like you flush the system better....meerly dropping the radiator hoses and flushing the radiator only changes about half the fluid...the rest in in the block (that is where the rust is from (iron block), and the head, and the heater core....

Did you run the engine and then flush again?
Looking through Google It looks like most do a flush, run the engine and flush it again.
Some shops have a hook up where they can run the flush whilst the engine is running, stopping when the fluid runs clear.
