2006 advice

Saw a 2006 silver S, auto, 57k passing a local Nissan dealer. Have only looked at it online. Any particular issue with this model? Does the exhaust have the nice burble like the manual trans?

Thanks

The non s auto is a nightmare..a cvt..
The S auto is generaly pretty reliable....just make sure the fluid is fresh, and it shifts fine imo, and all is good. A few s auto's have failed , but imo some in any car is expected, espically is an agressivly driven car...and like 80% of the folks here tend to drive pretty hard....2006 is a great year for a hardtop mini....

From all the research I've done, it seems like if you're going with a first gen, the 06 is the one to get.

Can't talk about the autotragics, but I haven't read anything about them failing in any numbers that would indicate anything negative.

I really like my 06. I don't think you can really go wrong with it as long as it fits your needs, the price is right, and it is clean.

We bought a clean 05 MCSa in Aug. with 67K miles on it, now has 71 happy K miles.

A couple of todo’s if you buy.
Oil, coolant and brake fluid are easy, there are DIY’s on here for all.

I would recommend you change the “permanent” auto fluid.
After a month I noticed the transmission hanging in 3rd gear (only happened a few times) when driving at a steady 40MPH.
Research indicated a fluid change would and did solve this problem.
It’s a fluid change (drain 2.5 quarts, drive, do it again, do it again) not a flush.
The first time you read the DIY it looks a little complicated, IT’S NOT.

Last and most important. “local Nissan dealer”
When we got ours I thought “so this is the famous Mini Cooper S, ho hum”
Then I filled with premium gas and thought “I think this thing is running better”
After the 3rd tank of premium I now think “SO THIS IS THE FAMOUMS MINI COOPER SUPPERCHARGERED !!!”
