Look for the letters RFT on the sidewalls. You could also look up your exact tire at www.tirerack.com and it will indicate runflat if it is a runflat.

The S models come with run flats since there is no place for a spare due to the exhaust system. So if you have an S model, then no spare, then it's run flats.

If you have a non S or normally aspirated engine, then check the tires for notations as previously suggested.

Run Flats

Not necessarily - a lot of MCS owners switched to the non run flats when new tires were needed (myself included - '06 MCS). The difference in ride and handling is remarkable and they are less expensive. All you need is a portable air compressor and a bottle of slime to get you to the tire shop if needed.

I'd say if you have to ask, you probably don't. I rode in a MINI with RFT's and it was like riding a log wagon on iron wheels compared to regular tires.

My statement is correct, "The S models come with run flats since there is no place for a spare due to the exhaust system."

However, I will restate the obvious that if you have an S model, AND PURCHASED IT USED, then it still has no spare, but the previous owner could have placed regular non RFT tires on it, as I did. Carrying a slime and compressor kit is a must as stated above.

I did the same, carrying the kit since I used Goodyear F1s on my Cabrio. The non run flats make a world of difference in ride quality.

Tire Rack carries 13 different kinds of Kumho Ecsta tires. Read what's on your tire sidewall right after "Kumho Ecsta" and use the link below to learn more about your specific tires.

Jim---thank you for the link on Kumho --- Yes, my tires are "RFT" tires. Althought the thread a bit new, I believed the 1st owner must have changed it to "XRP" (Extended Runflat Performance).

I can still feel the bumpy hard ride on the car, the reason I asked. I wish it's regular tire.
